25 years 55 t0 80

Whoosh-----Where did those 25 years go? My first wife died at age 53 when I was 55 years old. I retired at age 58 and re married at age 59. Spent 22 years of the 25 living part of the year in New Zealand and the other part in California with many cruises and world travel in between, white water rafting, skuba diving,bungy jumping, zip lining, golf, golf, golf. Now here I am having just turned 80 and I am single again and thinking about how fast the past 25 years have flown by. It's been a great retirement so far and in retrospect I would not have done any thing differently and despite a few medical hiccups along the way I am active and in reasonably good shape for an old fart. I am glad that I planned financially for my retirement and old age and would encourage all of the younger members of this Forum to do like wise. Tempus Fugit.

They do go fast, don't they? Even at my age they seem to speed bye. But it sounds like your life has been filled with love and adventure! Living ever moment, so to speak and loving it. Happy for you!

In regards to building a nest egg...you are correct. It is not the easiest thing to do in this economy but the smartest if you can make it happen. Problem is many can't make ends meet yet build a retirement account.

I have a theory that a person's own perspective on time is directly proportionate to their age.

For instance, in the year when a 1 year old grows to become a 2 year old, that is twice their initial age - an entire lifetime lived over again. Kids in the playground at school often won't have anything to do with the other kids in the years above / below them because of the 'massive' age difference, but as one gets older a 5 - 6 year age difference (single figures as a percentage for more mature years) is nothing, whereas to a teenager it would be like a school leaver hanging out with someone from Primary School, where it would be more like 30% age difference.

In this way, we view each year as a percentage of our life span so far.

If I may ask, how did this happen? If this involved a divorce, I do hope that you both can have an amicable relationship.
