I suppose I must be honoured.
So far there are 2 sets of keys to our office. One of which is held by the Line Manager. However, as both the Line Manager & the usual Key Holder are going to be putting on a presentation at a local Jobs Fair on Monday, I've been given the responsibility of opening everything up on Monday.
What with the keys to my desk, my computer, the confidential documents cupboard, the office keys (including the window keys), my home key & the keys for Da Beasty, I'm getting pretty weighed down.

If only that's all there was.

Now that I've been working for a month (first pay day on Friday), as well as having been thrown in at the deep end we were holding interviews yesterday for some additional Temp to Perm Admin staff, and I'm now being tasked with the responsibility of training them up when they start next week.

One of the benefits of being fist in the door is that you become the grand old man of the company very quickly

We've had those big combination locks installed on the doors now, so keys aren't strictly necessary - although one of them doesn't stay on the latch, so there's currently a replacement on order. Until such time as that arrives it's using the original key, but as it's just one of 2 doors to access the same area (from the middle outwards - one to the front, the other to the back) it doesn't really matter, so the combo can still be used to get in the other door instead.
Today the furniture & other fittings arrived, so we've now moved into our new office section, With me having first choice of seating position in readiness for the Temp / Perm I'm going to be training up on Monday. Fancy new state of the art phones, which need a degree in computer programming to operate, headsets (which have not yet arrived), desktops (as opposed to the laptops we've been working on thus far), which still can't log on to Outlook, other than through the Web Based Office 365 Portal.
I also had a major flood of paperwork this morning - more than I've had all week, put together, for the end of month reports, so I'll probably be getting my Trainee to help out with all that as well - basically just checking forms & data entry.
First thing when I got home this evening, though, was to check my bank balance, to ensure my first month's pay had gone through, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that for the first time in over a year my balance had gone well into the 4 figures, with about £500 more being paid in than I was expecting - And I've still got a month's worth of traveling expenses due from A4E - they cover the expenses for my 1st 12 weeks in employment at 25p / mile, as calculated by Google (which shows the longer, Motorway route, which I can't use on the moped). Actual milage = 7.2 miles each way. Google milage = 8.1 miles, multiplied by 10 = £20 / week - nigh on £100 / month. Tank takes about £6 twice a week.
