or, perhaps, the science of of politics?

Found this gem, today, thanks to a Facebook friend.

How a $47 Shrimp Treadmill Became a $3-Million Political Plaything – The Conversation - Blogs - The Chronicle of Higher Education

So, I had to go dig up the Forbes Article:

Treadmills for shrimp: $3 million - In Photos: Fifteen Silliest Uses Of Taxpayer Money - Forbes

Forbes was once a publication for whom I held high regard, but now they let anyone publish in their rag, and there seems to be no journalistic integrity at all.

By the way, lately, whenever I do go to their website, the first thing I see is:

I suppose there is a "message" there.

I first saw this on Qi ages ago. The really interesting thing is that when it's at the back of the treadmill & gets a chance to see the white line coming, it really does seem to hurdle it.

ya know, I did some Googling, and found

[url=http://www.oregonlive.com/education/ind ... thwhi.html[Pacific University professor defends his research, excoriates Republican critics[/url]

Not as a Republican, but an American and tax payer I am a critic.

If they came out and said it was just another pork barrel attachment, I could understand.

Reading the article, had a hard time taking serious the "it is about science" line.

Quit your squawking, TD. Pacific University is private so your taxes don't pay for a school in Oregon.

"My name is David, and I am the marine biologist who put a shrimp on a treadmill—a burden I will forever carry. To be clear, the treadmill did not cost millions of taxpayer dollars, the goal of the research was not to exercise shrimp, and the government did not pay me—or anyone else—to work out shrimp on treadmills."

TD: "Reading the article, had a hard time taking serious the "it is about science" line."

Since you are not a scientist, perhaps you should consider your ignorance.

I kinda feel ashamed. Didn't read the article linked,

The Chronicle of Higher Education

An editorial, I would say I would say disingenuous at best.

No problem my Dear.

I love science, really do.

If somebody wants to study shrimp, go for it. I cannot conceive why I should have to pay money for the shrimp industy.

You should go back and re-read the article.

They guy spent a whopping 47 bucks building the treadmill.

And it was not about the shrimp industry.

As usual, there is more to the story.

Tell ya what, the story was so bogus from the beginning,

Yes, the study was on shrimp. However, most of the major medical breakthroughs have been made by the observence of the influence of other things on lower life forms.

Personally I find the co-ordination of all those leg for something with such a small brain incredible. I wonder if it's like a centipede or a millipede, which apparently have a brain cell on each leg.

I guess that putting 'science' and 'politics' in the same sentence will never work out.

Yup. Political science is an oxymoron like business ethics.
