Saudi Arabia's history of hypocrisy we choose to ignore
Saudi Arabia's history of hypocrisy we choose to ignore - Middle East - World - The Independent
Even before Hunter’s day, the Wahabis captured the holy cities of Arabia and – Isis-style – massacred their inhabitants. Like Isis, they even overran Syria. Their punishments, and those of their Saudi military supporters, make the public lashing of today’s Saudi blogger Raif Badawi appear a minor misdemeanour. Hypocrisy was a theme of Arabian as well as European history.
All in all, a pretty pass. The Saudis are special, aren’t they? Fifteen of the 19 hijackers of 9/11 were Saudis – and George W Bush immediately arranged for leading Saudis (including some from the House of Bin Laden) to be freighted out of America to safety. Osama was himself a Saudi (later de-citizened). The Taliban were financed and armed by the Saudis; the Taliban’s Organisation for the “Promotion of Virtue and the Suppression of Vice was identical to the Saudi-Wahabi religious police in Riyadh and Jeddah. So precious are the Saudis to us, that Tony Blair was able to close down a British police inquiry into Anglo-Saudi bribery. “National interest was at stake. Ours, of course, not theirs.
Seriously folks how come no one ever talks about the saudis in all this. Saudi terrprists attack america and they invade Iraq - you couldn't make it up could you.

One word OIL ?
One word OIL ?

You are surprised at this?
We've been talking about it for years.
The Saudis did not pay for the taliban.
We, Americans, Brits, French, and all the others who have been buying oil from the Saudis paid for it.

First of all Saudi Arabia DID NOT attack america. Second and third Saudi Arabia has the second largest oil reserve in the world and the highest oil production in the world. But don't worry .... if Saudi Arabia ever decides to convert the petro DOLLAR (as Saddam Hussein did) you will be hearing a lot of talk about Saudi Arabia.

Actually they did the terrorists were saudi. By way of contrast iraq did NOT attack america nor did any iraqi citizens. OK they invaded kuwait but not too long before they were fighting a proxy war against iran cheered on by the west. That by the way is hardly a secret ir was talkesd about quire openly at the time.
I think you could make a pretty good case that saudi is behind all this. Which middle eastern natuion ihas ended up one of the most powerful withouit having gone to war o take out it's enemies. Which middle eastern nation has encouraged and financially suppported islamic extremism and toppled regimes throughout the middle east. OK it may be accidental but call me a cynic of you want it may be the pawns in the great gane aren't actually pawns after all.
You're right though it's all about oil. Islamic terrorists killed 2,000 in nigeria barely a mention of that in the news.

Why does no one mention the Saudis?
It's possible that I don't mention the Saudis because I'm not clear on whether I might face prosecution in an English court were I to do so.
Go on, I hear you cry. Test the waters, find out.
There are two aspects of the Saudi Constitution which should change as a matter of urgency and, if nothing else, national pride.
Firstly, the country can at the moment only be governed by the House of Saud. This isn't a constitutional monarchy in the English sense, this family is the sole fount of legal political power within Saudi Arabia. The citizens of Saudi Arabia should modify the Saudi constitution to one in which the country is an Arab Republic.
Secondly, I'm only happy for the Saudi Constitution to recognize a State Religion so long as it also codifies and enforces the generally recognized human right to practice whatever religion one chooses, if any, along with a few other human rights they might borrow from the European Union relating to gender.
I would prefer the citizens of Saudi Arabia to achieve these legal reforms without bloodshed. As for a timetable, I'd quite like it all done and dusted before the end of this decade.
Perhaps the appropriate US Government Agencies responsible for distributing the Middle East Destabilization fund could assign a fraction toward this laudably democratic ambition.

Not the wrong papers just not american ones. I mean when was the last time you read the sunday post?:-3
I find I have to look at diverse news sources to get a wider picture of what is going on. The bbc seems to running scared and is not what it used to be. The press in the UK is dominated by the murdoch group and is basically here is the news but never mind that look at the tits on her.

Actually no it's not I would refer you to your own senates 911 report and if you read that link in my original post it follows on to how wahabism and the saudi royal family have been closely linked over the years the two are hand in glove.
Today, the Americans and Europeans – and of course, our own Prime Minister – like to draw a line between the “moderate, friendly, pro-Western, oil-wealthy Saudi Arabians who are praised for denouncing the “cowardly terrorist attack in Paris, and their Crescentader Wahabi friends who behead thieves and drug dealers after grossly unfair trials, torture their Shia Muslim minorities and lash their own recalcitrant journalists. The Wahabi Saudis – for they are, of course, the same – cry crocodile tears over the murder of Charlie Hebdo cartoonists who lampoon their religion, while sympathising with the purists in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan who slaughter journalists and aid workers, destroy ancient monuments and enslave women.
Maybe if the imams challenge the authority of the king he might do something about them but it's perhaps too late for that. Follow the money - where does all the finance come from it can be traced back to saudi arabia.
Everything runs back to saudi arabia one way or another. Needless to say it's only my opinion on the matter what do you think? None of this just happens out of nowhere. You can blame western imperialism for a lot of things but not everything and where do you find yourself in disgreement with what I am saying. What's your take on all this?

Forgot about that. Why sweden down south? From my perspective sweden is north and to the right a bit. On my list of things to do is drive up through norway and sweden to Finland. Completely irrelevant I know.

Interesting! I never thought about it from an international perspective before now - have made the neccesary adjustment. I've been living in Malmö for the past many years now (the south of the country) though I'm originally from Linköping ... a fair way up from here. Yes, do yourself the biggest favour of a life-time and motor up the west coast of Norway. I swear that you will never forget it! Naturally, if you have the time and the inclination please do come to Sweden and to Finland as well BUT whatever you do don't miss the Norwegian fjords! It seems the further up you motor the better it gets. There are no words for it and photos are mere two-dimensional pieces of paper.

Know what you mean - people in london talk about birmingham as being up north and building rail lines to connect the north with the south, anywhere north of watford is primitive and backward. I see many swedish tourists especially bikers heading to the north of scotland they all same to speak fluent english it's very embarrassing when youy go abroad to realise how bad we are at languages.

But you can speak your own language well so you have nothing to feel embarrassed about. Your cousins however .... the ones you left behind a couple of centuries ago .... there is where "embarrassed" would be an emotion put to good use. :wah:
