Four adult children of gay parents — acting as a “quartet of truth — have submitted briefs to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals opposing same-sex marriages, with several saying that growing up under the rainbow was neither normal nor pleasant.

That's only 4 people out of thousands Bruv. Also, the Washington Times is a right wing rag, the Fox News of the print world. This story means nothing but hype & is not legitimate news.

I am with ya, but then, it's a "Brave New World", ennit?
I don't really know how I feel about a lot of that kind of stuff, personally, but I do not think the gummint should have a say in any of it.
Personal life should be, well,..., personal.
Besides, I know lots of folks who will tell you growing up in "Straight families" was none too pleasant, too.

The Times make FOX seem almost 'librul' sometimes.

I suppose the first of the gay raised kids are just coming of an age themselves to comment........it is still early days.

Funny you should say that, I am the third of 5 brothers, I remember a conversation with my younger and older brothers, and we all had different opinions about the abilities of our parents. The elder one thought they did pretty well, I could see nothing wrong at all, my younger brother thought they were lacking in many ways.
Not that they were bad parents even by the younger brother's standards.

Yep. My brother and I are six years apart, and that made a significant difference in how we view our parents. When I was young, Dad worked as a Radio Engineer, and was home a lot. We did a lot of things together. Camping, fishing. flying, and such. By the time my brother was old enough to get into such things, Dad was working a job that had him traveling a lot, and working nights. So he had little time for spending with us.

I'm still undecided on the matter of children in Gay Marriages. While I am certain that Gay couples can make excellent, loving parents - in many cases, better than Straight ones, I still can't help but have my doubts over the psychological ramifications of the children concerned.
I can see the advantages of adoption, where the child would, at least have a loving home, but I would still be opposed to Gay couples seeking to acquire a child by means of surrogate parenting or IVF - although I am also opposed to that in Straight couples as well, as the world's over populated enough as it is, without artificially bringing more into it.
I'm far from being Homophobic, but it still doesn't seem quite right to me.

Do you know any gay parents FourPart ?
We know a few well and i can't see any real differences in the welfare of the children. I've seen many straight parents who should have been brought before the courts for the way they are with their children. A parents love is a parents love and it doesn't matter what sexual orientation they are. To assume that gay parents are any less parents than straight is a revolting arrogance that has no place in a modern world.

That's my point. I know that they can make good parents & more often than not can make better parents than straight ones. I just don't know about the consequences on the psychological effect on the child, with the emphasis on I DON'T KNOW! Furthermore, what with it being such a new concept, I'm not so sure anyone else can really be certain. My point is that I can see pros & cons for adoption, but what is the risk? Is it better to take the chance & risk the child's future, or to err on the side of caution? I don't know the answers. Do you?

I don't understand. They are protesting against gay MARRIAGE? What does marriage have to do with homosexual alliances? Now if they were petitioning against same sex adoption of children ¦.... that I can understand.

I am with you. Here in Sweden there's the perpetual talk about the father losing contact with his children after the divorce, and how this is very bad for the children in particular. Men = bad, boooo! So please tell me why test tube babies, surrogate wombs, and homo adoption are legal in this country???

I have to admit I had skipped the opposition to marriage part and thought it was all about the adoption............that'll teach me to read more carefully.
