R.I.P. Cynthia Lennon
She died in Spain. She was 75.

To my big surprise, I met her once. My brother-in-law was friends with a local woman who did needlepoint portraits. She did a few of Cynthia Lennon, weaving in pearls & assorted stones & Cynthia fell in love with the work. They began to correspond & soon were visiting each other regularly.
One day, I was in my local mall & there they were, shopping & I was introduced. She seemed like a nice person. My brother-in-law met her & Julian a number of times & was even personally invited as Julian's guest when he did a club appearance in NYC.
Of course, my real memories are of her in the 1960's seeing her in the press, in India with the Maharishi, etc.
Btw, this needlepoint lady also sent her work to Yoko, who was not so impressed!
Another part of our lives, gone.

My friends and I were all definitely team Cynthia and anti YOKO.
Her son Julian had a good song a ways back that I liked also. Can't remember it.
I do think it was interesting to read she had married 3 more times, yet she went by Lennon

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.
Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

She was never famous or known for anything other than being Johns first wife, most people wouldn't recognise her on the street, don't think I would.
Makes you remember how old you are when these faces from your youth die.

Most were Team Cynthia, I think. As for keeping the name Lennon? I sure would!

That's because you were never a teen-age GIRL! My mirror tells me how old I am & I tell my mirror to go *F* itself! Youth is so beautiful. One can always look fine, whatever the age, but Youth Is So Beautiful.
eta---Joni Mitchell was hospitalized recently & her pic is in the news &....................I remember all the boys madly in love with her.

I might have been a teenage girl.
Anyway I don't need to look in a mirror to know how old I am getting, just stretching as I wake and the creaking shoulder pain reminds me daily, and that before I get to the bathroom......rapidly.
I have seen some really ugly youths.............but I know what you mean.

You were not a teenage girl. As for ugly youths, you can't mean Mick Jagger?? Just kidding, he's still adorable. Now that I'm older the people I might have thought not so good looking look good to me now. My son complimented me years ago by not being able to look at my picture when I was a teenage girl because he was embarrassed I was so cute! And I was! Ironically, the photo was of me the day of the night of the Beatles first concert here at Carnegie Hall. Row 7, middle section. SCREAM!!!!!!!!!! My dad's client was Sid Bernstein, the producer! Lucky me & my best Beatle soul-mate friend! We got tired of standing around, & walked around to the back of Carnegie Hall & we realized that standing behind the glass, 2 feet away, was Ringo Starr! SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!! Did so much hysterical screaming back then, miracle I have a (hoarse) voice left. Those were the days my friend.

Did you mean this track ? There is a definite Beatles/John Lennon feel about this song, don't you think ?

RIP Cynthia Lennon.
I'm sure that Cynthia was very proud of her son Julian, and I'm also very sure that John would have been very proud of his first born too, had the ex-Beatle still been alive.

We can't be sure of anything. While John was married to Yoko, he totally abandoned Julian, even in his will, leaving Julian at the mercy of Yoko's goodwill, whereas he was totally obsessed with Sean.
Howard Stern quipped the other day that if John were alive we wouldn't be seeing Yoko bellowing into the spotlight; instead, John would be working on his 5th or 6th wife.
Who Knows? John was a musical poetic genius but an abomination as dad to his first born. Maybe he would have changed, maybe not.

Unfortunately, AB, you are probably correct. But was he just being like his own father was with him as a boy ?

Sounds like the relationships between myself & my Father, and the different way he treated my Brother.

I don't think that is a good excuse, especially for a man as intelligent & sensitive as John Lennon. Also, if this were true, why was he so obsessed with Sean? We may learn what we see growing up, but that is not our destiny.
