I remember watching this when it was first shown. Wonderful stuff. I don't remember too many teachers of that quality from my time at school

I expect the school was chosen for the quality and character of the Teachers and staff there was some outstanding ones amongst them

Here's the thing though.. they happened to have a camera on the kid when the teacher got the idea.. they happened to have a camera on the hallway when the teacher went to fetch the other teacher.. he couldn't have been surprised they were discussing him at the assembly, he had his headphones and speech all ready.

These events may have happened, but what was recorded doesn't seem to have been the original event.
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

I don't know so much. First of all he didn't get the idea at the time. He said he had got an idea from The Kings' Speech & asked if he'd his phone with him (implying that he'd previously asked him to.

Then the whole show was a made for TV programme, so it would be conceiveable that there were cameras placed all around.

As for the assembly, I don't think it was meant to be a surprise. It came across to me that it was something that had been pre-planned so that he could show off by reading his prepared speech.

I don't see any of that as necessarily being staged / rehearsed.

It was an 8 part TV documentary, sometimes they work, this one really did.
