The Government is now naming and shaming firms that pay less than the Minimum Wage. Full List
Why don't they name the firms that pay just enough that the Tax payer has to top up their wages ?
Because those are the "Jobs" they have "Created" since coming to power ?
Or better still......the companies that aggressively avoid paying tax ?

The Tories will never do anything about the Corporate Tax Avoiders, as these are the sort of companies that pay their taxes in the form of Donations to the Tory Party.

Sadly while the tories may have crawled in to bed with the corporations labour jumped on top and the two vie with each other for their support.
Get past the first 30 seconds. First prize for humouir in the election so far.

That was on TV the other evening and I wasn't sure what it was, I wasn't watching at the time, so I grabbed the remote and rewound it, it definitely catches your attention and draws you in to see what it was all about, and I thought the Greens were humourless.
Funnily enough I did a "Find who you should vote for" quiz the other day and it came out I am Green, I may as well vote for them as anything where I live it is a stone bonker certainty Tory seat

That's what they thought about a lot of those that were safe Tory & Labour seats in the MEP seats that are now held by UKIP.
The question lies in whether the reason for such a swing is disillusionment with the current Government or their anti-European policy. For myself it is the latter, and I suspect the same is true for the vast amount of their supporters, otherwise it wouldn't affect Labour as much as it clearly has, as that can't be explained by dissatisfaction of the current Government.
I still believe that whatever the official Party Policy on Europe, the decision should still be put to the public. That is the point of democracy. Scotland get to vote whether or not they want independance from the United Kingdom, yet we don't get a say over whether we should have independance from the European Union. Where is the logic in that?

There was a vote to remain in the EEC in 75, you can't have a new referendum every time somebody feels like it, HERE

The vote then was for the Common Market, and the benefits of a common trade agreement, which I remain in favour of. What we never voted for was that of the EU & Central European Government making our laws. As I recall there was no mention at the time of open door immigration either.
If things were to revert to its initial ideals I would still support it. It is what it has become I object to & believe we, the people, should have a say in the matter.

We voted to join a community, as an equal voting member the rules have been changed by the majority.............now you know what Scotland feels like.

I have never liked the idea of a Minimum Wage. I instead believe in Offer & Acceptance as a part of a Free Society. You are free to offer and I am free to accept or reject. I am worth no more than what you are willing to offer and what I accept. If I and others do not accept your offer you will have to re evaluate your offer.

The problem there is that in an Employers' Market (as things are now) that means that there will always be employers willing to exploit people for a fraction of what they're worth & much less than they can afford to live on. This has the additional effect of making other employers do the same thing because they know they can get away with it. Furthermore, the whole 'choice' of offer / accept is taken away because anyone who doesn't accept will immediately lose what pittance of benefits they might already receive, despite it taking them from below the poverty line to even further below the poverty line. There is also the problem of immigrant labour, which is happening already, despite there being a Legal Minimum Wage. Simply because of the different currency values in Eastern Europe, what may be a pittance over here is a fortune to a Pole. This means that they are not only willing to work for less that Minimum Wage, but are eager to take it. This means that because it is illegal it is done off the books & there is no Tax or NI paid on it and, of course, takes jobs away from those who simply can't afford to take them.
Your preference for offer / refuse would take us back to the days before the Trade Unions (James Brine, of the Tolpuddle Martyrs, my worthy ancestor) when Lords of the Manor could exploit the peasants or let them starve. Live or die. That is the choice. When the standard of the offers are demeaned, the ability to refuse is also demeaned.

We fought THAT battle a century or more ago. Unfortunately, it seems the lessons were forgot, and we may have to do it all over again.
