But it should be fun. Questions like Snowfire mentioned are so specialized that few could begin to know if you weren't a specialist in that field. And if the questions are not the same for all then it's a lucky break for a person living in Australia to pull questions on that subject, rather than the train schedule for London and vice versa. Or in the case of president's wives' middle names--who knows, who cares and who will remember it?

I think the point of the triviality is to force a degree of random spread in the scores rather than having all the clever dicks clocking up ten after ten.

It might be noted that the site provides the infrastructure (and the perverse scoring equation) but all the questions are added by passing trivia-obsessed school-leavers who have, at best, only occasional glimpses of the world as generally perceived by those who survived past twenty and red at least one book longer than sixteen pages.

I'll modify that - passing trivia-obsessed school-leavers who have spent their lives glued to television sets in the United States for ten hours a day.
I got all of these thrown at me this morning. Dice-throwing ought to have got one right, I got none.
In World Wrestling Entertainment, which wrestler wears T-shirts with a picture of a dragon on them?
Burt Reynolds leads a cast of characters cross country in this 1981 movie.
In which "Lethal Weapon" does Joe Pesci first appear?
What was the name of the only regular male character on "Designing Women"?
Which T.V. sitcom was a spin-off of "The Cosby Show"?
What is Bart Simpson's brother's name?
I have heard of Burt Reynolds and the Simpsons, the rest is sheer puzzlement. Mr Reynolds portrayed a corrupt sportsman opposite an actor I have always admired greatly, Eddie Albert. The Simpsons is a syndicated cartoon with, I'm told, unlikely plots.
I assume Joe Pesci acts and that World Wrestling Entertainment must be one of several male-dominated dance troupes established in recent years to entertain housebound pensioners.
Other than that, the questions might as well have been written in Klingon.

It would be a simple matter to upload a few thousand UK-oriented[1] questions to balance matters, or put them into new categories so that a UK bias would apply to the entire category-selected trivia game. I expect it's never happened because We English voluntarily handicap ourselves, to make these contests more sporting.
Of the four winners so far this month, three are British and one is American.
[1:](OED, "Orientate"): More commonly used in British English than orient, while the latter is the more frequent of the two in American English. Orientate is commonly regarded as an incorrect usage in American English.

Yeah, sure. That's why I'm at the bottom of the heap. And if each set of questions is different for the players wouldn't that mean that we might get a mix now and then. Most of my questions are related to Australia, New Zealand, some European and American presidents' obscure facts that nobody but their mothers would know.

What on earth has the Church of Latter Day Saints to do with "Religion", that's what I want to know. From start to finish that blatantly insane organization is a tale of confidence tricksters, and I have to end up with four questions about them.
Along with the Bible, the LDS church has a companion book of scripture. What is it called?
Which President was best known for his preaching of the importance of tithes and offerings?
While building homes and settling in Kirtland, Ohio, the Saints also gathered in what other place?
When Teancum was killed, Moroni and Lehi were sad, because he had fought ______ for his country.
Of the five daily winners so far this month, after six days, three are Brits and two are Americans.

To quote the OED exactly as it appears:1819 J. H. Vaux New Vocab. Flash Lang. in Mem. 223 Walker, an ironical expression synonymous with bender and used in the same manner.
J. Badcock (writing in 1823 under the pseudonym J. Bee) makes the interesting observation that the exclamation is 'usually accompanied by a significant upliftment of the hand and crooking of the fore-finger, implying that what is said is a lie, or is to be taken contrary-wise'.

Had they asked who was the Prefect of the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office when Italy won the 1982 Soccer World Cup I would have stood more of a chance, there was a lower turnover of Prefects of the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office than there was of President of the Republic and they were generally better known to the public at large. Neither official had any more to do with the 1982 Soccer World Cup than I did.

Those watching June's trivia will have seen 8 players get a daily top score, half British and half American.
Those watching the calendar will have seen that today is a new month. For those in America wanting to laugh at our peculiar British foibles, "The UK has seen the hottest July day on record, with temperatures hitting 36.7C (98F). The Met Office said the reading had been registered at Heathrow - breaking the previous record set in 2006. A level 3 "heatwave action" heat-health alert has been declared for all parts of England". What the remaining summer will bring I have no idea.
