I can see they're obviously aiming at intelligent conversation instead of sweaty panting bimbo.
Bring back Angela Rippon, that would sort the chaps from the lads.

How about Anneka Rice. There's a blast from the past.

This of course assumes the other two co presenters are on the way out too.

So it has been said, I thought. The program's long past that.

Long past what ?

As long as the most successful BBC program keeps selling worldwide, they will keep on making it

Yes yes. But it's been officially announced that the other two are definitely out of the running for the Evans program.

I doubt it - I have the radio on between 7 and 9, that's all.

I don't particularly have to 'like' people in depth, just enjoy their efforts to entertain me, and when it gets too much, I change channels, withdraw my support so to speak.
I find Clarkson very entertaining, mildly irritating much of the time, but always value for money, don't know if I would make him my best mate.
I'd reverse that, I find Clarkson very irritating, mildly entertaining a bit of the time but not worth the effort. I *might* be persuaded to catch a few episodes of Top Gear now that he's gone to see whether it's now watchable.

Definitely not my sort of thing in the first place, but I definitely agree with you about giving it a try.
I've seen Top Gear (or parts of it) a few times when it's been before something else I wanted to see, but on each occasion I found Clarkson so utterly odious that I turned over, or off - occasionally resulting in missing the programme I intended on watching entirely.

I watched the final Clarkson Top Gear (so I could say I was there) and to be fair, most of the show it was rainy, they were driving across muddy fields and fording cold rivers with no windshield, if I had a day at work like that and my wife offered me a cold dinner I might have chinned her too.

Haha Are you sure she didn't see what you typed there. I watched it too. The segments from the studio without Clarkson was a little subdued. It was clearly missing something without him but the rest was entertaining nonetheless

SShhhh !!
I don't normally watch it, but I have watched and enjoyed isolated programs and it is the chemistry between the three of them, with Clarkson being the central player that makes it work.
I am sure Chris Evans will be a good replacement with his own style.......Jeremy and crew will be hidden on Sky or Channel 5, I shall not follow them.

Unfortunately, I doubt there will ever be such a successful threesome presenting a program like Top Gear ! Yes Jeremy was quite often a buffoon, but that was part of the attraction of that program and it was obvious when JC was 'pulling your leg', that's why I could not understand why people sent complaints in after an appearance by JC on a chat show, if he had said something outrageous ! There were also many occasions when Jeremy Clarkson put some very valid points across, but all in all the program that was Top Gear was an entertaining program and I have my doubts that a follow-up program with the same title but with Chris Evans as main presenter and two women as his 'team' will reach anywhere near the standard set by the previous presenters.
Top Gear is rather unique, true it isn't or wasn't everybody's idea of a good entertaining hour on TV, but it did entertain thousands and thousands of people and it made the BBC a fortune in broadcasting fees throughout the world and you have to admit that the BBC has shot itself in the foot, disposing of such a lucrative product, even though they are trying to re-introduce Top Gear as near to what it was as possible.
I think the BBC have lost a lot of viewers of that particular program and I cannot see them managing to claw them all back with a new Top Gear format. I think they would do better to give such a program a different title.
I, personally, enjoyed watching Top Gear, and if that trio find a home together on another channel, it's a possibility that I will enjoy watching them again.

I watched the last program on Sunday and thought it was a little sad. Richard and James were rather subdued and they looked a little uncomfortable that there was a third person absent. The end of an era. I quite enjoyed the two films of their antics though !
I did have difficulty hearing what Richard and James were saying in between the videos, that jacket worn by James was sooooo loud !!! :yh_rotfl

But would you have felt the same way if you were getting paid the same rate as he was for getting by with sandwiches? I certainly wouldn't have minded sending out for my own pizza. I would, at least, be able to afford it easily enough. Chances are they'd have even provided it for free in exchange for a promotional photo.

It was a joke.......
But then again........if I had been out all day in the pouring rain doing take and re take, the least I would expect would be some hot food. I have done over time in the window trade, missing my evening meal, and the guvnor has supplied a take away to keep our spirits up.....and it worked......for less than a fiver each.....as the ad says...Priceless.

The end of an era, IMO. That "chemistry" was definitely missing. The "new" Top Gear will probably, nay, definitely be a pale shadow of it's former bad boy self!:yh_frustr
