And I think that the way it's all going, this is just the "tip of the iceberg".

Massacre In Tunisia
According to Ted, & some others:
Re: ISIS have now upset Japan.
"Having done a great deal of reading concerning the middle eastern problems I've come to the conclusion that after what Briton and the US did to those people it is now payback time for those evils."

As reported on the news earlier. It's not so much an attack on any nationality in particular. It's an attempt to destabilise the country by affecting their tourist industry.

Because they consider them to be heretics - see the Protestant / Catholic conflicts of the 17th century for comparable events.

I just see it as another front for world domination. Power.
The problem is that because it isn't even based in a country, let alone a Government, it's not something that would be as simple as invading them.

Trouble is, invasion is not the simple option - as we found out in Afghanistan and Iraq, invasion has serious repercussions.

So, what's the solution? Stand by & watch ISIS take over the world? Murdering innocent civilians left right & centre?
I must say that ISIS have a strange approach. They seem to go out of their way to build up as many enemies as possible. Even true Muslims are ashamed of them as everything they stand for goes against the real teachings of Islam.

SSSHHH!! As Napoleon might have said "When your enemy is making a mistake, do not interrupt him!" (Re: Upsetting the world)

That's how it happened in WW2. Just think how many lives would have been saved if we'd taken action earlier.

It was a rhetorical question I'm quite well aware of the history, shia and sunni started slaughtering each other a long time ago - you can't have two religious people in a room without a fight starting..

Trouble is the west came galloping off what moral high ground we had in a charge led by bush and blair. Wait till we replace trident that'll scare them.

True, but look also at the danger of a "knee-jerk", ill-planned precipitate action. We should be prepared to take whatever action is required to keep this country safe, not necessarily military action either; we've seen enough "half-cock" and "flawed intelligence" actions recently (Iraq, Libya) an we really don't need any more to further inflame tensions and hatreds in the Middle East. Bush and Bliar are, after all, responsible for "setting the Middle East on fire", to quote Spot, and I agree with him on this matter.
However, we do need to discuss, as a WORLD COMMUNITY, what to do about IS. If any boots are put on the ground, it MUST be with the endorsement, or at least the aquiescence, of the major powers, or we risk a major conflict in the region, which will probably act as a catalyst to escalate the action and spread it to other regions, as "treaty chains" kick in...
"Fools rush in where Angels fear to tread!" A most apt saying.
We can't do nothing, though. Whatever we do must be an acceptable and APPROPRIATE response.

I hardly think a reaction to the outrages being committed by ISIS for years now can hardly be considered a "Knee Jerk Reaction". The appropriate response needs to be to get in & wipe the spreading virus out. Tunisia is already taking action to close 80 Mosques:

I doubt if that will do anything other than to inflame more Muslims, though. Mind you, all the Muslims I've come across are insensed about what what ISIS is doing to shame the name of Islam. Perhaps closing the Mosques is the right course of action, as it's only really the Muslims themselves that are likely to be able to do anything about it. One thing is for certain, though. Mosques are much more of a target now than ever before for vigilante attacks.
