Should there be a law against public institutions that lie for money?
Religions and many charitable organizations of all stripes make their revenues by lying to people.
The Great British rake-off... what really happens to the billions YOU donate to charity: Fat cat pay, appalling waste and hidden agendas | Daily Mail Online
Should we help protect the gullible by eliminating all the fraud that is being passed off as religion and charity?
Those who do not believe the lies being sold by religions and charities are presently subsidize the tax exemptions and credits that religions and charities enjoy. What they save in taxes, non-believers and those who actually want to give to charities must fork up.
I am not what most would call a non-believer, I am a Gnostic Christian, but still resent my hard earned tax money being used to perpetuate what most know are lies. If you are a non-believer, or one who wants your charitable donations to actually be used for charity, I hope you feel the same and do not like being fleeced the way the gullible are.
There ought to be a law against institution like religions and bogus charities that live off of lying to the gullible.
You give religions more than $82.5 billion a year - The Washington Post
Do you agree?

That would not only make just about every Church and charity organization in the world illegal, but pretty much every government that relies on elections to fill their posts.
Not to mention Publishers' Clearing House.
Good luck with that.
I would start with abolishing the tax exemptions for all religious organizations, And making sure that the charities are using at least 50-60% of their donations to help their target recipients.

I don't believe that any religion should reap the rewards of Tax Exemption status. Despite their 'official' status of being a "Non Profit Making Organisation", as we are all aware they have an exceedingly high Income Over Expenditure (the official term for "Profit" for Non Profit Making Organisations).
Furthermore, they should be subject to the same Health & Safety Laws as anyone else. For example, a Church is essentially a theatre. It has a stage, performers & an audience in an enclosed area. Now, fire safety laws in theatres decree that when naked flame is used as part of a performance there needs to be people with fire extinguishers either side of the stage & that the naked flame should be extinguished at the earliest opportunity. Common sense to most people & most people would agree that to be a perfectly valid law. However, look at the Church. It is exempt from such law - particularly the Catholic Church which leaves candles burning unsupervised until the finally gutter & burn out on their own. These aren't even limited to the smaller taper candles, but there are also the big ones, such as the Easter & Advent candles, which are usually placed in a fairly central position. If a theatre were to behave like that, they would be closed down.

Seems we will not argue much on this one my friend.
I fail to see why our authorities are allowing flagrant fraud and not protecting the gullible and vulnerable within our nations.

I agree that we give churches a lot of leeway and respect they do not deserve.
You make a good point on them just being a stage crew putting on a performance and let me add, entertaining us with adult fairy tales.
My kingdom for a world that was not populated by so many stupid and gullible people.
I do take comfort in knowing that most believers do not really believe and are just following old tribal instincts, customs and culture.
The new generation are not so trapped into rote sheepishness.
