It was over a month back, but another great literary talent left us in July.

I really enjoyed his work.

Billy Bathgate was my favorite, I think. Kind of a modern rework of Melville's Billy Budd.

Ragtime was also terrific, and the film based on that work is on my top 20 list.

The Nation published a very worthy "eulogy"
