God Bless you Ma'am.

I have become religious and a Royalist in my old age.

Like her or loath her you must respect her old fashioned sense of duty.

I've never known life without her being Queen. I fear for her safety with the terror plots that abound in this wicked world of ours. Apparently our 'secret service' have foiled an ISIS plot to blow her up recently. No, I can't find sympathy in my heart for ISIS terrorists.

I have always been a devout Royalist. There aren't many countries left that have a stable Royal Family, but those which do have a tradition of Royalty also tend to be the most secure ones.

There are those who would argue the cost of maintaining a Royal Family, but if you consider it as an overhead in the investment of a tourist attraction alone, it easily gives massive returns, paying for itself many times over. Then, there are her duties as a diplomat, which she performs with expertise & grace, respected by all countries, friend or foe.

They're also the ones that made sure royalty no longer had any real power to govern despite attempts by them to keep it. Our security as you put it has absolutely nothing o do with the royal family. They are the descendants of medeival warlords whose baleful influence stil affects the way we live. Next time you go out in to the countryside ask yopurself how di so much end up being owned by so few. She does have her good points and a symbolic head of state with no political power is useful but the institution as a whole I have little time for

I believe that our Lizzy (and her family) are the envy of most of the world, and those who belly-ache about dispensing with our Royal Family should be ashamed of themselves. They talk about how expensive the Royal Family is to this country and they conveniently overlook the hundreds of millions of dollars etc. that come into the UK via tourism, mostly with people who want to see our Royal Family and watch 'The Changing Of The Guard' and similar such pageantry.

I, personally, am proud that we have a Queen and a Royal Family. They all work hard for their country and Queen Elizabeth (and The Duke of Edinburgh for that matter) is still carrying on with Royal Duties. She is 89 years old and Prince Philip is 94. I wonder if Lizzy will get a telegram from herself when she reaches her 100th birthday. I expect Prince Philip will get one from his missus in 6 years time ! :yh_clap:yh_worshp

She does have political power - if she chooses to use it. All bills need to be ratified by her. True, after 3 times it will go through anyway, but I'm not aware of this having ever happened.

On a personal level about the queen I would agree with you but it's not the individuals that are the issue bit rather what a monarchy represents.

let me ask you this if during the engllish civil wars you had been around would you have been on the side of the king or parliament? It's still the same issues in todays politics, who rules and how do you curb the rich an powerful from helping themselves to everything?

I might not do away with the current monarchy but I really disagree with this right to rule and the sycophantic sucking up that goes on.

and those who belly-ache about dispensing with our Royal Family should be ashamed of themselves.

The fact we can bellyache is due in no part to any monarch.
