Child molester given longer sentence as victims are Asian
The judge who jailed him,Sally Cahill QC, specifically said that the fact the victims were Asian had been factored in as an "aggravating feature" when passing sentence.
Perhaps it is me.......but.....could anybody explain the logic behind this ?

By the same token, should Asian paedos be given longer sentences for targeting white kids?
The words 'British' and 'Justice' should not be mentioned in the same sentence, IMO.

The sentence should be equally imposed.
If you are unhappy about British justice you can always appeal to Strasbourg

For now. There are plans to introduce a 'British Bill Of Rights'. Strasbourg is one of the few EU things I approve of.

Technically, I suppose, we already have a Bill of Rights. It's called Magna Carta.
Justice, a level playing field ?
True, but it could do with an 'overhaul', I guess. I wonder what monstrosity will emerge from it?

I see the likes of Strasbourg as our conscience or the final word from above, we can listen to it or use our own discretion, but only when we are totally out of order do they interfere.

When 'Brexit' happens, Strabourg juristiction here will end. Do I trust British governance to 'do the right thing'? No; they'll kick us 'where it hurts', then snatch our wallet when we grunt, same as always....

I don't think you are correct.
I believe people are unhappy with lots of things about the EU, but given a few tweaks some good PR and the promise of changes they will agree to continue with it.

What changes do you think that emasculated fool of a Prime Minister will be able to win from the EU? He may be able to persuade Europe to allow a few minor 'tweaks',
but without Germany backing us 'to the hilt', I wouldn't hold your breath, Bruv! We need MAJOR REFORM, not 'tweaks'!! We've achieved little so far, except have our proposals rejected publicly, and our 'contribution' payments increased! In exchange, we'll have to agree to an EU standing army, no doubt under GERMAN control, as most thing seem to be in 'EU land'.
Don't even get me onto the profligate wasteage of money in the EU....
As for PR and promises, that about sums it up, doesn't it? SPIN, not SUBSTANCE!!! The old 'jam tomorrow' routine....What annoys me is that plenty of folk believe this blatant bullshine....

Your paranoia is showing.
You talk as if the whole purpose of the EU is to bring the UK to it's knees, to rob us of our way of life to bankrupt us to make us grovel etc etc etc.
Many of the other countries have similar misgivings about their own sovereignty...............we must all lose that idea.....we are all in this together.

The 'Tweaks' it needs are to revert it to what it was when we first signed up to it - when we were allowed a Referendum. A Common Market. A European Economic Community. It was originally nothing more than a common trade agreement which, in theory, I have no problems with. We still maintained our own sovereignty, our own laws & had control over our own borders. Then Centralised Government started to creep in by the Back Door (leaving it as Open Door), telling us what we were & weren't allowed to do.
I vote Out of the EU & In to the EEC.

You accuse me of paranoia; what shall we say about the roots of the EU, then?
The EU was HITLER'S idea and it proves Germany WON the Second World War, claims new book | World | News | Daily Express
And there are many others who are familiar with these origins ....
The European Union is based on the Nazi plans published in Berlin in 1942
So before you accuse me of paranoia, check the history! The Nazis may have lost the second wold war, but they've realised their dreams of a federated Europe....with Germany at it's head!

THE 'fascist' EU was inspired and designed by the NAZIS and is proof Hitler won the Second World War, an outrageous new book is claiming.
If Hitler had campaigned and we all voted to join (like we all did)................would that have been a Nazi victory ?

Actually, we didn't vote to join the EEC, we were offered a referendum on leaving AFTER we had been joined! WE WERE NEVER OFFERED A VOTE ON FEDERALIZATION (EU), Bruv!! This is a matter of public record.
Were you, or anyone you know, offered a vote on joining either the EEC or the EU?

Such a paradigm shift of policy should have been put to referendum! Thin end of the wedge, leading to Federal Europe via the back-door, with all the sovereignty changes that entailed, all without a ' by you leave'? It's utterly UN-democratic bulls*it Bruv, worthy of any dictatorship! And look at the mess we're in because of it!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
The experiment has failed. We are now weaker, and more divided than just about any other time in our history. Sharia law beckons....

The fact remains that the initial referendums were held regarding signing up to a Trade Treaty & remaining in the same. It had no mention of a Centralised European Government. Furthermore, those referendums were 2 generations ago (or more). I imagine that the majority of those currently entitled to vote have never known a time when Britain was not in the E.U., let alone had any say as to whether they should have been in it in the first place.
There is sufficient disquiet & unrest about the whole E.U. situation that a In / Out Referendum has to be inevitable, and I don't see much in favour of a continued membership. It makes no difference what Party Policy is, the Government, (whatever the ruling Government of the time may be) is democratically elected, theoretically, to serve the electorate, and if the electorate want out, then they should have to agree.
