Oh dear oh dear.

US military personnel investigated for splashing $96,576 on strippers • The Register

What?

I get mine free at the point of delivery with the NHS.

I do hope these chaps get some sort of book thrown at them.

I was originally going to post about Wales stun England 28-25 in Rugby World Cup thriller but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Rather frustratingly I have two bars of a song in my head and I can't bring the singer, or the rest of it, to mind. Just a tone of voice on two words, both of which also appear in Swing Low Sweet Chariot so searching isn't going to unearth much. It's a dirty low-down visceral piece of power rock triggered by seeing the word Ezekiel a few minutes ago and I'll work it out later but just at the moment it's annoying. My power of recall is not what it was.

eta, ten minutes later.

ah.

Richard Thompson. That was the tone, that's the song.

He reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys

Said "I've got no further use for these.

I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome,

Swooping down from heaven to carry me home"

Frustrating indeed, Spot. I've been trying to identify the group responsible for the soundtrack behind 'The most amazing humans in the world 2015' that I posted on Weird and Wacky a few days ago. There's no indication of the track name or the composer. All the Facebook comments are asking the same, too!

I've been to the thread, I've looked at the posts and I have absolutely no idea which clip you're referring to. Could you be a little more explicit?

Yes, it's post #284. I haven't got a clue who did the music, though. I'll probably have to wait until some kind soul posts a comment on the Facebook section beneath. Thanks for the interest, though...

Judging by the intro words I imagine it's "All The Way Out There" (SouljaSoundz)

Just had a listen, but it's not Souljasound, unfortunately. I think the genre may be 'melodic dubstep', or possibly 'chillstep', as opposed to hip-hop. Thanks for looking though, FourPart. I've spent several hours already trawling through various genres in the hope of 'nailing it down', but needles and haystacks spring to mind....:wah:

I'll maybe try 'listube'....

There's always that app you can download to your phone (Shazam) that can supposedly identify such things by sampling it. Perhaps you could try that?

Cheers for that, buddy.

Unfortunately, my phone's not that advanced, FourPart. Is there an app that can analyse soundtracks that will work on a laptop or Huddle; point-and-click?

There is also an app - apart from soundhound that will listen and identify music played - that will listen and identify music hummed or whistled. Ive used it successfully to identify a song that my daughter had in her head, that she whistled to me over Whatsapp. I works on the pc or laptop too

Back of the net!!:yh_party I finally found the track I have been hunting for! Tried

Shazam and Midomi, but they couldn't identify it, so I entered the lyrics as a quote using google. That gave me the name of a film called "Into The Wild", which I saw years ago...

The film was set in Alaska; the song uses one of the 'lines' in the film as lyrics....

Whilst searching a 'Chill-Step' mix on Utube, I noticed a track called Alaska, by a group/person going by the name of Ephera so I clicked on it and there it was!!

Thank you all for your help and suggestions, even though I ended up finding it 'the old-

fashioned way'!

Any luck with your 'hunt' yet, Spot?

Is the photo on your post (#15) something relating (such as an album cover) to the heavy rock track that you were trying to remember/find?

If you can remember any more, let me know and I'll see if I can help locate it; there are few things more annoying than half-remembered stuff that you want to find!

The more info you can give me, the better.

Have you tried the 'Midomi' site, Spot? ( Midomi.com)

Enter the site, select the music genre, then click on the 'hum or sing' box (you'll need to hum or sing for at least 10 seconds, and you need a microphone)and see what it comes up with.

What I have used in the past is a forty-year-old notation called Parsons Code, there are quite a few lookup sites which recognize it. Neither it nor whistling would cope with a two-bar fragment, but I did bring the songwriter to mind after ten minutes.

The photo is one my youngest son took last night, of the Shadow Moon.

Parsons code? I've never heard of that before; sounds like it pre-dates most other code. I'm glad you've managed to recall the songwriter's name; it should be 'job done' now, with any luck!

Unusual Moon last night, wasn't it? It was very bright for most of the night. What time was the picture taken?

That was about quarter past three at a guess, some way into the eclipse.

NASA has a press conference at 4.30pm BST, two hours from now, with a major Mars-related announcement.

I think they've found an airlock to a long-abandoned underground base.

Seriously Spot? You wouldn't be pulling a 'fast one', would you? If it's true, then MUCHO THANK YOU for the info!!

Is it on telly, and if so, what channel? If they have discovered an abandoned underground base, then it's 'game over' for the 'there's never been life on Mars' brigade!

Ignore the last post, Spot (barring the thank-you!); I've just seen the 'rolling bar' on Sky News. Brilliant!!

Well Spotted! (If you'll pardon the pun)

Well, I watched Sky News for about 40 mins; good that they've found 'seeps' of briny water, though that's certainly not

evidence of a subterranean base! Still, there's time yet. The more I see/hear/read about Mars, the more I'm convinced that there are only 2 choices regarding the existence of intelligent life on Mars. Either it did exist, or it still exists. We'll undoubtedly know more in years to come.

I, for one, will be keeping an open mind, and a close eye on Mars....
