Facebook Message

I have sent a sentence by Facebook Message in which a plural subject is attended by a singular verb, but I can find no edit control by means of which I may correct the error. What am I missing?

Perhaps I should have started the thread in the Internet Computing area. I feel neither reply has quite grasped the technical aspect of my query.

After a few moments researching on Facebook messenger, I could find no means to edit the sent message.

After a further moment of deep thought and considering the question as posed, I would ask if there is an edit feature on the spoken word?

The transient nature of speech and Facebook Messenger make such an option unviable.

The best solution (if it matters so much to the sender) a rapid follow up message with apologies including a lol and a smiley to suit.

What is it you want exactly, to correct an already submitted post? You can edit posts on your timeline but not sure you can edit already submitted private messages, others of us just write a correction in a following post.

Perhaps a query to Facebook bosses may help ? Forum Garden has that facility, as do most other sites, so why on earth doesn't Facebook ?

I've made a form of apology for the grammatical solecism but I can't see me using Facebook Message often, it's like walking a high-wire if it can't be edited.

I've been re-reeding Nennius this evening. He's just reminded me how greatly 5th century Kent valued music.

You can edit before you click...........obviously.

But then that's the difference between you and the rest of the world, you 're-reed' but worry about 'solecisms', the rest of us laugh about our text 'cock-ups' and carry on with our lives.

Is Kent a county or a person ? And who really gives cares if some 5th century person or population valued music.....in the scheme of things.......it matters as much as editing Facebook messages...............excuse my ignorance.....but thats just my take on it anyway.

Top right hand corner of the post there is a little down arrow (sometimes you need to mouse over it in order to see it). Click on that & select Edit (or Delete if you want something more drastic).

That is on a post, not on Messenger

Sorry - I misunderstood. I don't think it is possible to edit it once it's been posted. It's like trying to edit a text message once it's been sent.

I agree that were I to install Skype and then kerpow on a different person's desktop I could then edit what I send to that different person, but that would not be the chap with whom I wish to interact.

Messaging differs in this respect from phoning, in that one's phone can be expected to be able to ring anyone else's phone. They all use the same structures. The address range covers all phones. None of this, I realize as I type it, is actually true, but the essence of phoning is approximated. Not so with Messengers. My messaging program will not talk to your messaging program. Hence the need to pick the right program in order to hunt one's quarry.

You could have said "The bloke I want to speak to has messenger only as far as I know"...........................is your middle name verbosity ?
