I've been seeing more and more of him over the past months and he seems one of the only ones, as far as I can see, who is saying the sort of things that would make me personally, vote for him. I like what he says and I've approved of the way he handles the press in their attempts to goad him with their usual right wing agenda.
Is he a one off in American politics ?
He's clearly not new on the scene. How is he generally received amongst the electorate ?
Obviously he's not Tudes cup of tea or this lot......

Well, he is certainly a "one-off" around here. We could use a few more Socialists in this part of the world.
And if it is a choice between him and a member of the current Republican Clown Coalition, He's got my vote.

So, Conservatives apart, is there a distrust of such a swing to the left. Is voting further left than the Democrats an acceptable option for the average American voter, or is that a step to far.
I ask as I still cant fathom why the average working class voter here in the UK finds so much resistance to what would essentially save them from the clutches of the greedy, self serving Right and give them back the services that have been stolen from them and given to the rich in the form of tax breaks. I cant imagine its any different there and judging by that website I linked and the rantings of the ginger quiff who has fantasies about changing the decor to the White House, probably worse

Well, to start with, those Randian loonies on the website would only be happy if Anarchy prevailed. Any form of social order, by their view, is Tyranny.
As for the average liberal, they seem to think that Hilary is the only hope the republic has, and we must all join forces behind her to defeat the Evil Trumpian Empire.

If that is a list of Dumbest Quotes, then I feel I must ask myself which they are referring to as being the Dumb part - the initial statement or the Dumb response. Every one of the statements are plain common sense. The responses might well have been made by David Cameron. If something works for the Public Good, sell it - it has a higher marketable value.

I've known of the socialist Senator, no news here.
I think I posted something about Black Lives Matter disruption of his planned speach in Seattle, WA.
I liked the guy right away.
You can watch the whole skit of fast forward to minutes
2:14 , 3:30 , 7:04 , and 9:36
Another reason I like him,
Him like George Bush has a healthy sense of self-deprecation humor.

I'm shocked Lars. There is no real choice from the Republican party, & given the things you've said here I'm shocked to read that.
Bernie, although I love him, can't win. Most dingbat Americans equate socialism w/communism, in their Ignorance. He is senator from Vermont, he couldn't be in most states. Therefore Hillary it is, must be.
As for Trump, compared to all the other Republicans running, he has turned into the only one I can tolerate, and would choose him among any of those standing w/him behind those podiums.

No, no Bruv, I wouldn't choose Trump, BUT.........of course he's an asswipe, what do you think the other Republicans are? WORSE, that's what they are. There, I answered my own question. &, if I were stuck with a Rethuglican again, yeah, I would prefer Donald. He's worldly, don't believe half the crap he is spewing. He's a very sophisticated man.
I don't know if you saw any of the Benghazi witch trial when Hillary was speaking, but the Refuks acted like mad, Rabid Dogs. Donald & the Clintons are friends. I know, what a world.

Why is that, Anne? I have been a Republican for a long time. And I really hope that soon the party will return to sanity.
We have a year to go, so there is still time. The fact that The Donald is actually being considered by people in the party as the one viable choice should says it all.
The Republicans need to Cast a vote for "None of the Above" and send these clowns packing, then get on with serious selection of a reasonable candidate.
We need Bernie in this conversation.
Sure, compared to The Donald, Hilary comes across as electable. But she is just another Wall Street crony, dressed in a skirt. More of the same. Look at her record and history. Tell me that if she was a man, you would actually consider voting for her. Too many people are in her court because she is a woman.
It's time the Democrats stopped catering to the old line machine, and listened to the People they claim to represent. That has not happened for a long time.
And I am sick and tired of hearing about the guy who comes out making sense being labeled as "un-electable" to justify putting up just one more party hack. It's time we had a real choice again.

LarsMac: "Why is that, Anne? I have been a Republican for a long time. And I really hope that soon the party will return to sanity."
When was the last time you thought the Republicans sane? The year, the individual(s).
LM: "Hillary comes across as electable. But she is just another Wall Street crony, dressed in a skirt. More of the same. Look at her record and history. Tell me that if she was a man, you would actually consider voting for her. Too many people are in her court because she is a woman."
A Skirt? When do you see Hillary in a skirt? She wears pantsuits. You may remember I chastised a certain member for saying a female scientist was the same as some male scientist in a skirt. You are more accountable for that remark than the one I chastised. I like Hillary, I would definitely consider voting for her, and your last sentence is sexist.
LM: "And I am sick and tired of hearing about the guy who comes out making sense being labeled as "un-electable" to justify putting up just one more party hack. It's time we had a real choice again."
Same question as the first one I asked. When was the last time we had a real choice. Who was he, or them? You don't have a choice because Money rules the system. Both parties are different sides of the same coin. Many republicans I hear on TV would love Bernie to win the nomination as he would be beaten. He would be swift-boated as a Communist. Is that why you like him? Surely you don't agree with his ideas because You are a republican.

On the local front, we can make a difference. That is where I try to focus.

So, a year to go, and people have resigned themselves to having a choice between The Donald, and Hilary? And we are just going to roll over and let that happen?
Ain't Democracy wonderful?
As for Bernie, well, obviously he will not get a spot on the Republican Ticket, but we need him in the conversation.
The only way to make a difference is to be involved at the local level, and take part in the caucuses and local party offices.
Or we can just let the inmates rule the asylum.

When the underdog class, or the class who has never broken through the Glass Ceiling is supported by others of the same class, it can never be considered sexist.
PS---is it sexist when a man votes for a man?

Yes. These people are nuts. And we allowed them to take over the place. First order of business has to be get somebody in ther to replace them.
We elected one of these clowns last year in my state. We did so by letting the opponent sit on his thumbs through the campaign, and then by not showing up in large numbers to vote. Maybe you have outgrown the Republicans. Why so stubborn about it? If somebody must inject sanity into the hive mind, why must it be you? Maybe the only way to inject sanity is to leave in droves until they get politicians who are already sane? The republicans need a tough lesson to quit their crap.
Why are you holding on to this party if you agree 95% with Bernie? In what parallel universe does this make sense? Are you a party die hard? Your parents were, so are you? What's your story? Did you support Vietnam? Did you serve?
Instead of trying to save the republicans, why not try to save the dems with more & more Bernies being an acceptable alternative in places other than the Northeast?

Oh yes you will. In 2020, I'm willing to place a bet.

It would be that guy who occupies the White House shutting down the government by not signing the budget bill.
Anyway, none of that is going to happen as the abortionists been saved by theircomrades.
At least one small step which does deny them some money from their butchery.
Planned Parenthood Won’t Accept Money for Fetal Tissue
The move comes after months of attacks on the group, beginning with the release in July of undercover videos by anti-abortion groups. The videos seemed to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the procurement of fetal tissue, which led to an unsuccessful Republican effort in Congress to end its federal financing.
Planned Parenthood is the target of five different congressional investigations on how it handles fetal tissue after abortions, as well as state inquiries.
Of Planned Parenthood’s nearly 700 health centers nationwide, only two — one in California and one in Washington State — supply fetal tissue to researchers, and only the one in California has been getting reimbursed, the organization said.

I doubt they are coming clean on this, but I'll take what I can get.

Nothing quite so simple there. I simply have never trusted the Democrats. They let us down too often. I much prefer being a liberal Republican to being a conservative Democrat.
I am only registered with the party so I can participate in the caucuses and Primaries.
So far it has done little good, but I keep trying. And frankly, I have had little respect for the Democrats for a long time.
I was in Chicago in 68. Saw the Democratic party up close and personal. And since then, I remember a lot of the clown the Dems have put up for the office. Dukakis? Kerry? Edwards? Seriously? Sure, the Pubs have not been much better.
And if it comes down to a decision between one of those guys in the Clown Car, and Hilary. I can say with a fair certainty that she will get my vote, but really, I'd like to see some other choices, please.

I remember years ago when President George H. Bush seemed to not know about grocery store scanners. The popular press made noise how about he was not up to American culture.
Now we got this guy mouthing off in the mid-west.
He just doesn't get it.

Donald may have had a loan that he repaid with interest, but he is leaving out the fortune he inherited when his dad, Fred, died. I know where Donald was in Brooklyn because it was in the news that he was put in charge of building Trump Village, across the street from the high school I was attending at the very same time. Fred Trump was dedicated to middle-class, middle-cost housing for us regular folks. Gosh, I'm part of history.
eta--his comments remind me of Romney who said people should ask their parents for $60k loans. Yes, the rich are different.

What doesn't he get, tude, dear? That the 7th Day Adventists are part of the nutty evangelical right? I think you are taking Donald Trump far too seriously.

I've never trusted the Democrats either, dating back prior to '68 Chicago. "Hey hey LBJ, how many kids did you Kill today?" There certainly had been Republicans I've liked, but not for decades & I despise how they lock-step with the anti-choicers to a fanatical degree. As well, lately too many of them have said downright Stupid stuff, like that whacko in Texas Louie Gohmert, & the list is too long to name, but here's some "quotes": Rape can't cause pregnancy, & the case is still open on climate change (despite what 98% of scientists say) & there is an American War on Christmas & all kinds of dumb sh!t. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. Yes, there used to be, maybe still are Republican policies I can live with but the above-named takes precedence.

You don't get it either.
How long before thoughtfulness or convenience he decides to throw us under the bus?
What do you know of 7th-day folk? When the last time you ever read anything about them?
Why did he pick on them?
