The rise of the right

Post by Bruv »

Late Monday night in Dresden, Germany, former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson gave a speech to a large group of Pegida supporters. He told the crowd that he’s been working with nationalist groups across Europe in order to coordinate a Europe wide movement that seeks to, in his words, counter the "Islamification of our countries". The first demo, he said, will be taking place on February 6, 2016, in at least 12 European countries simultaneously, all marching under a single banner: ‘'Save our Country. Save our Culture. Save Our Future."

Is the rise of the right inevitable ?

You should have titled this thread "The Rise of Hate." Because that's what the right is all about. Right now we have a rabid right-winger going for president of our country and the weird thing is...people actually like him the more hateful he becomes.

I saw someone comparing Trump to Mussolini the other day and the comparison was staggering. The very same hate speech, almost down to the same lines, the very same bombastic personality and meglomania, the same everything. It was truly terrifying!

One of the greatest reasons we still teach children today about WWII is that if it happened to the German people, a technologically proficient, twentieth-century race that was steeped in centuries of religion, it could happen again. Anywhere.

The far right hates.(I refuse to call them conservatives because it belittles their hatred of all things good and modern.) It is all about fear for them. Fear of losing their status, fear of losing their power, fear of ideas, fear of change, fear of others not of their kind, fear of ...everything.

And fear, unfortunately for all mankind, sells. Hitler knew it well.

I think the over riding emotion is fear, long before the hatred kicks in.

I agre, fear breeds hate. First you are afraid, then you begin to hate being afraid, so you lash out violently.

I find it ironically comical that an English Nationalist is allying with Non-English Nationals.

That is part of their defence against accusations of racism, they are not racist, they just believe in preserving the purity of their history and culture.

I susopect they may have little chance of allying with scottish nationalists. I am quite sure england could survive as an independent nation.

I got a freebie Union Flag from Britain First. It had a tag in the corner - "Made In Taiwan".

Seriously.

Oh I believe you. On July 4th, our independence day, Walmart has huge sections of every kind of flag and patriotic paraphernalia possible. It all says, "Made in China."
