It's some four decades since we had a left wing government in the UK that's why the NHS is being privatised, inions are having laws passed against them to prevent workers from going on strike why we have zero hours contracts and low wages with employers being subsidised by tghe public p[urse mean while the bankers who ruined our economy are still free and currently legislation is being brought in to remove the laughable regulations put on banks aftyer the collapse. Big copmpanies get away with not paying tax and if the ttip treaty gets through corporations will be more powerful than national governments. It's right wing politcians that statred the wars in the middle east and overthrew regimes - which in many cases they had brought to power regardles of the consequences and with ni thought to wht might take their place.

You might note that it is the U.S. right that is offering something that is not same old, same old.

I am usually on the left of things but not this time.

The fundamentalist interpretation of Sharia might well not include moderation but it is only an interpretation in the same way as the fire and brimstone interpretation of the Bible is only a fundamentalist interpretation or the Haredi interpretation of Rabbinic law is fundamentalist.

One of my colleagues is a devout Muslim girl. She is typical of plenty of others. You find female Muslims professors, doctors, nurses, entertainers. You find Muslim women in all walks of life. These are the moderates. To tar them with the same brush as the Fundamentalists is nothing more than hate preaching.
