I have to tell someone!!

One of the offices in my building has an opening. A friend of mine from my former office (same company) e-mailed me to inquire about it. I gave a brief explanation of what I knew about the job. Later, I found out it's pretty much what she's doing now. She got very excited. I also mentioned her to the people in that office & told them of her qualifications. They are also very excited to meet her. Last night, she applied on-line, sending a cover letter & her resume. She e-mailed me today & told me she did this. I stopped down in the other office & they seemed excited to have gotten her resume & extremely impressed. I work for a university & she works at another campus. She even had her daughter drive her around our campus this past weekend. I talked to one of the women from the office down the hall & she pretty much said that, even though they have to do interviews, my friend is almost a shoe-in (sp?)!! Of course, I can't tell her I know this & I'm bursting at the seams!!! I don't want to get anyone in trouble, so I have to keep my mouth shut. I just needed to tell someone!!! I'm sooo excited!! :-6

Good news is always.............well good news.

You seem very excited....good for you ! Dont you just love it when these things come out of nowhere and fall in our laps ? When we live well good things happen. Im happy for you.

Great news, it sounds like you really did your friend a wonderful favor. But you are wise in not telling her that she is almost a "shoe-in". There are "other" interviews that are still going on, and you never know. I've seen it happen before, where someone with the exact qualifications as your friend has, but is willing to accept the job for "less" money can get to slip in. However, because of your good recomendation for your friend, she definetely has a the upper hand! Good luck.

Good for you! ... and her! If you can help her with information about the interviewers' likes, dislikes, & quirks, she's as good as hired. I had a boss once that everybody knew loved fishing. If you got in trouble, the trick was to steer the conversation to fishing - then all would be forgiven. :-6

The bad part is that the daughter of one of the girls in my office has also applied, & I found out that her resume wasn't even pulled. She apparently had no qualifications. I hope this doesn't cause friction.

It's very nice of you, Observer. And you're right. You shouldn't tell anyone. After all, it wouldn't be fair to get her hopes up, and then if things didn't work out... Don't get your hopes up, either. This way, no one is disappointed if it doesn't work out right. Wait until she actually has the position for you both to celebrate! Maybe, take her out to a nice restaurant?

My friend emailed me on Friday & told me that she was finally called for an interview! She comes in tomorrow!! Unfortunately, I took off to help my daughter move into her new place. So, I won't be here. Oh well! My work here is done.

Thanks Betty. I was running around my office, waving my arms like an urangutan (sp?) when I found out. Had to laugh at myself!! I knew she'd do it!:D
