Gun-control sit in

Post by Bruv »

Is anything going to happen ?

There have been chaotic scenes in the lower house of the US Congress as Democrats staged a sit-in to demand a vote on gun control legislation.

Unfortunately, I agree with Anne. The Republicans are intransigent and will simply wait out the sit-in. It's a nice gesture, and I am behind the demonstration, but it will get us nothing.

It is an example of the polarization we have experienced. The gun control liberals are becoming more radical, and so are the pro-gun rightists. Meanwhile, the hope of finding a reasonable solution fades. Instead, we see some sort of capacitive build-up of the forces, and when that energy releases, it will not be pretty.

As predicted, the sit-in appears to have fizzled out :-

A majority of gun control advocates have guns as well. We just don't agree with the idea of completely unrestricted access to the things.

The goal of the recent filibuster was to force an actual vote on the various background check bills. Previously, the Republican majority had prevented the bills from even coming to a vote. While all of the measures were voted down, including those introduced by Republicans, the list of which legislators voted against each bill provided ammunition, so to speak, to be used in political ads in the various state elections for legislators. The sit-in just provided additional press coverage and voter impressions to be used in those elections.

I would expect to see political ads along the lines of, "My opponent voted against keeping suspected terrorists from buying guns," and "How many more people have to die before my opponent will acknowledge that we have a problem?"

I hope the cry babies in their childish chit fit didn't soil the floor. I mean, it is taxpayer property not intended to receive hazardous body waste.
What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

Im going to take a leap of faith and speak on behalf of the rest of the world.....yes i can do that from the comfort of my screen.

When the firearms issue was voted down 'the rest of the world' looked at America like theyre all nuts. The sit in showed the 'rest of the world' they arent. It was refreshing to see Americans standing up and bucking the status quo.
The 'radical' left just wants everyone to have food, shelter, healthcare, education and a living wage. Man that's radical!....ooooohhhh Scary!
