I remember going to see a film, just after my wedding, called Mondo Kane. I can't remember what the film was about, but I can remember a lovely melody played by a full orchestra, during the film. I later heard Andy Williams singing a song called 'More' which was a song set to the melody of the backing music during part of that film........it looks as if you'll have to press the YouTube button at bottom right of this frame.

I like the instrumental version of that too. I have 4 or 5 albums by Andy Williams and this song is included. I like this version by Al Martino, who I knew from my nightclub days.

Thanks for that FourPart, I've got some very good headphones and that sounded absolutely terrific through them ! I wish I could get it on CD so that we can play it on our excellent car stereo set up.

It's available on MP3 from Amazon - you could always burn it to CD.

I spent the afternoon listening to our new neighbors. They apparently were having a picnic in their back yard, and their friends are all musicians. Several fiddles, a banjo or two, a Bass violin, and some wonderful voices playing and singing some great Bluegrass, and old time Gospel. Our very own private Bluegrass festival.

I'm gonna like living here.

I'll answer for ArnoldLayne, seeing that we know each other so well.

A bit over analytic don't you think ? The word chicane can mean either sharp bends in the road or chicanery is a bit of trickery. Either way a bands/artist/producers name usually has little to do with its music.

Kitchens of Distinction had, as far as I'm aware, little influence within the world of interior design but had a reasonable career as an alternative Rock band.

All the same, Nick Bracegirdle as Chicane has a fine reputation as an ambient trance composer/producer and is pretty successful. I enjoy his work immensely.

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with either band so I gave them a go. Quite liked them both. The NP's clean bright chilled out sound.

Preferred Dover. Reminded me a little of Kenickie.

There are those of us here that will remember a period in the early seventies and I'm thinking particularly the English contingent on here, that rebelled against the Glam and Prog Rock scene before Punk Rock took hold.

It grew from the Pub bands, particularly in London and oddly it started with an American band who visited and gigged in the London Pubs. It produced some fantastic bands and music.

Wow ! Does that bring back memories for me - Santo and Johnny playing Sleep Walk, one of the instrumentals I used to play in the band ! It was always played towards the end so dancers could smooch to it !

Yes, that is a good one to smooch to. I put on all this old music when I'm writing--it helps me get in the mood. I'm going out tonight to watch pre-season football at this place that has a great jukebox. These are the songs I'm going to play: It Ain't me Babe, Angel In The Morning, Bohemian Rhapsody, and . . . .Sleepwalk.

I'll be sure to listen to it. Usually I'm a snob about original artists and even the re-mastering of artists' originals--I can usually detect the subtle changes but every so often I'll hear a cover that rivals the original.

I'm afraid I have no sound in my laptop at the moment, not sure what has happened or if it's anything I might have done to switch my sound off. It is affecting both my internal speakers as well as my headphones ! I feel a bit lost without my sound, grrrrrrrrrrrr, but I can certainly remember how Sleep Walk went ! I know all of the titles you have mentioned but Sleepwalk is the only one that we played.

Hayseed Dixie--an embarrassment on so many levels. My granddad, who did real Dixie, Bluegrass and Country, along with my uncles, aunts and my mother, are probably rolling over in their graves. The band was talented on guitar & banjo, though.

From their talk between songs I suspect their collective views on poverty, war and injustice differ markedly from some of the lyrics they espouse. Multiculturism, Brexit, Donald Trump and Nigel Farage figured prominently. Hearing songs dragged from their original heavy metal context is an education.

I had never heard of this group so I looked them up. It was an interesting line in Wiki . . . "Continuing to push boundaries in extreme and often absurd linguistic ways . . ." I think most of what they do is absurd, for instance their dress. No self-respecting hillbilly or bayou inhabitant would have been caught dead in cut-off bib overalls. Did that one guy have his front teeth blacked out? The article says that their biggest following is in Western Europe. I can see that they would be a novelty there, sad to say.

Years ago when I was a realtor in Wyoming I had an Old West ridem-up, shootem-up place listed for sale which was a popular attraction for tour buses with people from all over the world, on bus tours to visit. I took some people up there one night and after taking a stagecoach ride for a mile or so, being raided by fake Indians, having a milk can dinner and listening to Old Western singers, we headed back to the main visitor and gift shop area. We were in a stagecoach with 4 women from England. I asked them how they enjoyed the event. One of the women replied in her charming British accent. "This is the finest night of my life!"
