This was so life changing for me
http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/gener ... re-20.html
This was when a handful of us FG members met up. I flew from Calgary to London on a 8 hour non stop flight to meet some exceptionally fantastic FG members.
The photo sharing technology back then was challenging, and even this link may not work out so well, but with luck this blast from the past will put a smile on a few faces.

Bryn, that was my adventure of a life time, people often ask me what is the craziest thing I ever did, I tell them,
I jumped on a plane flew to London and met 16 complete strangers that I only knew via FG (I include Rapunzals lovely children)
Patsy some of the pics just do not work anymore.

I was able to find some - good time.
What a wonderful trip for you
Talk about memory lane - it was nice to see posting from some old members - I had forgotten so many of them - I wish they'd come back.
Good for you to be so spontaneous

My family thought I was nuts getting in the car and driving to London to stay with complete strangers :yh_rotfl
I'm sure Theia's family felt the same :wah:

lol Betty, my family was the same, my parents were horrified I was going so far away alone to meet strangers
It was so well worth it.
Yes I do wish some of those old members were still posing with us today, as well as some oldies that were not at that gathering.

Yes you men were troopers hauling our suitcases around.
I agree there should be another FG meet up again in London.

Would next year around august be okay? Some of us have a long journey and hence have to organise. Been in london at that time and it was very pleasant.

I joined in 2007 so I missed the meet. I would have loved to have joined in, and would still love to join in, but I'm not so mobile these days so would probably have to say no as arrangements could prove rather complicated to say the least.

Awe Magenta, August of 2017 would not work for this travelling girl, I have my second daughters wedding that summer, but August of 2018 this girl would so be interested
Awe Gill that is disappointing.

Maybe we can hold the meet closer to your neighborhood.

That's a kind thought, Lars, but I would think that London is probably the more convenient for most people. I'm only one person after all. Still, one never knows what can happen in 12 months !

In a country where you can be just about anywhere with a few hours in a car, or a train, I can think of a lot of places I'd rather hang out with folks than London Proper. We who are very mobile should be able to accommodate the few who don't get around all that well. I for one, after flying from Colorado to London, would have no problem coming to wherever folks want to meet up.

any year is fine by me, I don't need to save up and book a flight.
I've just realised I have no idea whereabouts (apart from the fact she's north of me) Gill is, was thinking to suggest something central. London's ok, but incredibly busy in August.
