The level of service in the USA, ok they may not mean it when they say "Have a good day" but I would rather have a waiter take my money with a smile on their face than hand it over to some grumpy teenager who could care less.

Ther are one or two other things I like about the US;)

Hey Canadia, what's "aboot" about? :p

I was in England, trying to go to the men's room, what they've named Lou. Anyway, when I hit the door some guy on the other side of the door, I assume it was Lou, yells "MIND!" Well, I thought he was yelling at his kid for not doing as he was told - none of my business, right? Well the door was heavier than I expected so I shoved ... and dang near knocked a guy off his ladder just inside the door! Somebody should have warned me. I could've hurt Lou.

There are good Brits, & bad Brits, good Americans & bad Americans, good Canadians & bad Canadians, but only the the GOOD ones are in here!

There's really no loving or hating each others ways, we all just have some differences between pronounciations, spellings, mannerisums, customs, & foods, etcetera, that may seem odd to the others. Suprisingly, when we all venture into each others ways they are quite pleasant. :)

Well americans talk funny and can't spell-mind you there are 50 million english people with a major speech defect (they can't pronounce words with r in them properly) and who talk funny as well. But you've got to like a nation that makes a hero out of someone in a blue bodysuit with his underpants on the outside, another that thinks he's a bat and from there it just gets really silly.

They call chips french fries and crisps chips, build cars that don't go round corners and to ride a harley you have to dress like one of the village people.

As to the canadians

In the beginning, God created the earth. On the second day, while he was making his countries, God discovered a country in the north of a great continent he'd decided to christen "america"

“I know,” thought God, “I shall make this land an area of outstanding natural beauty. I shall bless it with lochs and glens, crystal-clear waters and rivers teeming with wild salmon. I will name this country ‘Canada’ and shall those who live there to know the secret of my favourite drink ‘whisky’, the water of life. I shall bequeath major reserves of gas and oil to bring its people great wealth and fertile land so that they need never go hungry.”

When he’d finished his work, one of the angels turned to God and said,

“Hang on a minute. Why should Canada be blessed with all these natural treasures? Aren’t we making life too easy for its people; shouldn’t they have something to test them?”

And God replied, “You haven’t seen who their neighbours are yet.”

My sister has lived in the US (Sandiago) since 1966 and her 4 kids were born there. I have never met the kids personally, but I correspond with them via e-mail on a regular basis....they're smashing kids. My boss is American. Since I've been coming to FG, I've realised that actually, our cultures are really quite similar, and as human beings we are exctly the same....I think Canadians share even more similarities.

Americans are very outspoken, particularly about religion...we Brits are more restrained in giving our opinions...more introverted I guess.

All in all I'm very comfortable around anyone and I'm happy to laugh at the differences and even be the butt of a bit of p**s taking. :-4

It's quite interesting that even though I have lived in OZ for 30 years, I spent a lot of time overseas working and whenever I met Brits I felt a common bond with them imediatly. I was born and lived in England till I was 14, yet still bonded more with Brits overseas than Ozzies.

Dislike: Please note I didn't say "hate" :D

The funny foods you eat like french fries with vinegar. (Eeeewww)

Your "holier than thou" attitude about history. (Sure you've got it and we don't, but don't forget, "Americans invented everything," and if we didn't... we'll rewrite the history books, and teach the children otherwise.)

Your lax immigration laws.

Your "Americans are idiots" attitudes about guns.

Love:

Your accents - they are too cool.

Your beautiful women. Hands down British girls are the cutest around.

Your fun names for things like trunks (boots) and elevators (lifts).

Your sense of style.

Your amazing history - I'm jealous, we are still an infant country compared to the long and rich British history.

Your music. Psychodelic furs, Beatles, the list goes on forever.

Your royalty - All we have to read about in the tabloids is stupid Ben Affleck and Tom Cruise, and whether or not Elizabeth Taylor is still alive. (or worse yet... stupid Michael "now I'm black, now I'm white" Jackson.)

Your wild and dry sense of humor. (Monty Python is your country's greatest export.)

Your courageous military. The Battle of Britain was awesome, as was your effort at Dunkirk and in North Africa. Can we forget the Charge of the Light Brigade? When will their glory fade? Honor the charge they made, honor the light brigade, noble six hundred!

Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes.

Princess Diana - was there ever a more cool princess? I think not. She was the very definition of grace, beauty, and charity. You go Britain.

The Victorian Era - Nice decorating, dudes!

Your steadfast friendship after all the years and all the problems.

Things I feel sorry about:

Iraq - seriously, I know you are all mad at your leader for following our guy, but wow...That meant a lot to me and most of the Americans I know. It shows you guys have integrity. You back your friends up, even when the going gets tough. Give some lessons to the French, would ya?

The Revolutionary War - I can't help but think if King George hadn't gone off the wall, we'd still be a part of your Empire and we'd get to sing "Hail Britannia" when we were drunk.

Princess Diana - I don't want to talk about it. It makes me too sad.

Your immigration problems. So that's what you get for being so nice. We'll be in your shoes shortly. Help us out and solve it first so we can copy you again.

The sun set on the British empire. Honestly, the world was a nicer place under yor flag. Any chance of you guys going on a "conquest" spree again? We have some unruly south American countires you can take over. They need the direction. Heck, you can even have Canada if you want it, they're all too stoned to fight back. (Heehee just kidding Minx!)

I like Scots. The only country that makes cross-dressing cool.

I like Irish ..... whiskey.

I like Guiness, whoever makes it.

And I Canadians too, I guess. I mean, they were the ones that originated the "light" craze that has given us light beer, low-fat everything, etc. It started with Canadian whiskey, bacon, and .... I'm sorry I've lost interest.
