You did the right thing Far - and on so many levels.

You put an animal out of it's misery

You taught the kids compassion

Well done. Your children are blessed by the example you show them.

Its important for both life and death to be understood at a young age.

I wanted to say that last statement but had a Sunday afternoon brain fart. My kids learned it at young ages too. It is compassionate to put an animal out of its misery.

Far Rider wrote: Howdy Clint, how was your service today? did ya preach?
The services I attend were yesterday. I taught a class on marriage yesterday. I often preach as a guest on Sundays too but not today. Our service yesterday was great. We had a Messianic Rabbi from Israel as a guest speaker. He reported that the number of Messianic Jews in Israel is growing faster than at any time since what was reported in the book of Acts.

We are presently in the season of Sukkot (Lev. 23) or the Feast of Tabernacles so we do a lot of celebrating. We celebrate that Yeshua tabernacles with us now. We had a Sukkot party at our house Friday night. 45 people were here to bring in the Shabbot and party. There was a lot of laughter, eating, drinking, dancing and blowing of the shofar.

You didn't mention how your service was. How was it?

Some times, things just have to be done.

My mom stepped out the door of our farmhouse and stepped on a kitty,

it was horrible, daddy was at work so I was able to convince her *I*

would help the kitty. Don't remember my age... 8 maybe? But you gotta do

what's right for the animals, daddy was hours away from being home, mom

was horrified and emotionally unable to even approach the cat. I had no

nightmares about it at all. So Far, your daughter sounds like she will be

okay, I'm sure it has oh-so-much to do with her daddy!!

Far Rider wrote: ... On the way in this mornin to church, my family and I past a dead racoon, not quite dead, still breathing but with obvious fatal injuries...

I went to the shed got a shovel and proceeded to move the injured animal off the road way and down into a ditch. Poor thing whined and struggled to breath, her spine was broken and both upper limbs were pulled up and contracted, when i moved her, again she whaled in pain and i had no choice but to mercifully kill her. With my oldest son watching and not where i could see them but two other girls from the church... I wont say how i did it, but quietly the animal was silenced and killed. She filled one last breath and that was it. I moved her into a ditch, dug a shallow grave and placed her there.

My daughter and son now nearby, my daughter crying her eyes out...

I thought to myself that, maybe I should have just left her alone... when my daughter said..."she'll be ok now daddy, she's not hurting anymore" she took my bloody hand and said "lets get you cleaned up".

She's becoming as strong as her mother. I was glad then that she was there.

Now that's a MAN!!!!!!!!!

As we're talking about strange things.

Yesterday me & Ian went to Wales for the day and in a RSPB shop where they sell seed & nuts for the birds, a guy came into the shop with the fattest dormouse i'd ever seen on the scoop that you get the nuts out of the sacks with.

He'd scooped the mouse out thinking it was dead, but it was asleep, it must have climbed in and stuffed itself full to bursting & nodded off!

The guy took it outside, it hopped off the scoop and waddled away.

Good man Far for stopping the coons suffering. Did the right thing, for sure. Your daughter has a good role model in her life. Being shown what compassion is, is lesson enough.

Oh Far, you did the right thing for the poor raccoon. It isn't hurting anymore, andI believe critters go to heaven-how else would the Lion lay down with the Lamb? The raccoon isn't suffering, but 'tis a hard lesson for children to see. Your daughter, you must be mighty proud of her. She is already a great woman.
