Will President Trump run for a third term?

Post by spot »

And if so, will any Republican stand against him in the 2028 Presidential Primaries?
Rep. Ogles Proposes Amending the 22nd Amendment to Allow Trump to Serve a Third Term

Here's the text: ‘‘No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.’’

"President Trump’s decisive leadership stands in stark contrast to the chaos, suffering, and economic decline Americans have endured over the past four years. He has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay and restoring America to greatness, and he must be given the time necessary to accomplish that goal. To that end, I am proposing an amendment to the Constitution to revise the limitations imposed by the 22nd Amendment on presidential terms. This amendment would allow President Trump to serve three terms, ensuring that we can sustain the bold leadership our nation so desperately needs".

A man to watch, Mr Ogles. Since 2018 he served as Mayor of Maury County, Tennessee, and was recognized as Tennessee’s most conservative mayor. That makes him America's answer to Sadiq Khan.

He does keep talking about running for a third term. It would be a culmination of all my hopes if he forces it through. Go Trump, make America great again. The man certainly appointed enough lapdogs to the Supreme Court.

What else...

1. 'Policymakers and investors across the world are waiting anxiously for April 2, when US President Donald Trump is set to announce “reciprocal tariffs” on the rest of the world and celebrate the move as “Liberation Day” for the US.' So, Wednesday.

2. 'Donald Trump among 338 nominees for Nobel Peace Prize
Donald Trump has been a nominee in previous years as well, but this year’s speculation has gained particular attention amid his controversial foreign policy moves.' - and I'm sure I heard on the radio the President has been talking with the Swedish PM. Perhaps the Swedish PM has influence. The only less likely candidate is that one-time frothing warmonger NATO's ex-Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, whose nomination is the same magnitude crazy as Henry Kissinger's back awhile.

And, to capture the wording for future discussion:
On Sunday Trump was asked on NBC’s Meet the Press about if there were plans for him to stay on in a third term as president. “Well, there are plans,” Trump said. “There are – not plans. There are methods – there are methods which you could do it, as you know.

“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump added

I note the existence of JD Vance, America's Vice-President and immediate successor to President Trump in the event of, let's say, blatant senile decline.

Image

I would suggest that an unfettered Vance with two terms and a Base after his succession is far more to be feared than the comedy turn currently sat in the Oval Office.

And we might imagine Vance placing Marco Rubio into the Vice Presidency to keep the line untainted.

If anyone thinks the photo is even slightly tampered with, do say so. It appeared in The Telegraph three weeks back. The photographer got several shots from that angle.

And, for your delectation, we have:
Pete Hegseth scraps Pentagon’s Women, Peace and Security program citing DEI

Defense secretary dismissed it as a “woke … Biden initiative” despite it being a Trump achievement from his first term

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... e-security

I'm coming to the opinion that "Fake News" does indeed have a new meaning. Fake used to mean untrue. Now it's revised to mean "not news our side generated". It's unwelcome facts. The truth isn't being challenged, the truth is immaterial, the question is does it make us look like turds in a pond. And if we say it doesn't exist because it's fake news there's no pond to look at.

In a post on X, Hegseth wrote: “This morning, I proudly ENDED the ‘Women, Peace & Security’ (WPS) program inside the [Department of Defense]. WPS is yet another woke divisive/social justice/Biden initiative that overburdens our commanders and troops — distracting from our core task: WAR-FIGHTING.”

The defense secretary added the program was “pushed by feminists and left-wing activists”, claiming “Politicians fawn over it; troops HATE it.”

But the decision is raising some eyebrows as the initiative was established during Trump’s first administration when he signed the Women, Peace and Security Act in 2017, making the United States the first country in the world to codify standalone legislation on the matter.

The Trump campaign even courted women voters by citing the initiative as one of its top accomplishments for women on its website.

Attempting to square this circle, Hegseth later claimed the Biden administration had “distorted & weaponized” the original program. “Biden ruined EVERYTHING, including ‘Women, Peace & Security,’” he insisted.
