Honda. While they aren't fun power cars, they do run forever.

I have a Chrysler - great engine. But, she didn't pass the environmental test. (sobbing). The car is legally undriveable if she doesn't pass that test.

I have to try it again today and see what the problem is. She runs great, no smoke, recent tuneup. Argh! So, once I get her through the environmental people (who are NOT my friends, for today anyway)...then I'll be happy.

Nothing like cruising mountain roads with a humming engine. :)

This is a tough one indeed! What do you mean "best"? I used to think best meant fast and mean:

Ferrari. Jaguar. Ford GT40. Aston Martin.

Now I like dependable and rugged!

Dodge Ram Pickup Diesel - 600 ft./lbs. of torque and 300 HP. Engine overhaul at 500,000 miles.

Do this little trick, it works! Ops, I just decided it would be best if I sent it as a private message, I hope I can get it to work, (Not too good at that)

You did great, and I have the message. Thanks!! :)

I'm laughing at myself because I am so nervous about this stupid emmissions test! Sheesh! I've got a Corporate Finance final coming up worth 25% of my grade and I'm not remotely nervous about that...but my car? Whole 'nother ball game. LOL

:driving: CARS,

Well since I have been driving the same darn car since 1973 I would say CHEVY...!! But we all know they don't make American cars like they use to.

I would say TOYOTA, HONDA are the best bet overall. They require little if any repairs, and can go forever...!! Great cars for women to own. Toyota Lexus is a great car. My sister has one that is a 1992 top of the line for that year. It still run great, has a great ride, and require no repairs.

Trucks.. the FORD F-150, OR THE CHEVY SILVERADO, GREAT TRUCKS.

For me the CHEVY SUBURBAN is the best SUV...!! REALLY A FULL SIZE SUV.. I have driven several old, and new..They just command power, and the road..!!

But I'm still in love with my 1973 CHEVY CAMARO.. 350 ENGINE, 4BARREL, CHROME BUMPERS, SOLID STEAL BODY.. !! CARS IS BUILT LIKE A TANK..!! :driving:
ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

Best car in my price range is the Honda Accord LX, I've had 3 and essentially

got really high mileage without doing more than normal maintenance.

But I wonder about the Rolls Royce... all I've ever heard is that they are

machined within such tight specs that they last practically forever!!

My Toyota 4X4 pickup is a real goodie, too.

Funny you should mention Rolls Royce, I was looking at "Auto Trader.com just the other day and just for the fun of it and put in "used" Rolls Royce. Intrestingly enough to my surprise, several came back in my area. I could get a "1985" Silver Spur with 44,000 miles on it for only $30,000. But when /if repairs were needed it's still a Rolls, and the repair cost would be outstanding!!! $100 repair bill on Chevy would probably be $2,000 on a Rolls Royce!

Oh well it was fun to look!! :)

(PS: It would look pretty funny seeing a "Rolls" pulling out of a McDonalds!)

The BEST CAR is a paid car, okay? thats my idea of the best. A foreign one also helps with average mileage. My car will last me another 10 no problem, i love my vovlo-s-80. :driving:

No Mercedes in sight, i have no use for BMW's. I would consider later a Mercedes, providing i can afford payments of 2000.00 a month for the one i would buy. I like a heavy large car. I always "buy" new, no lease. Those down payments, BOY. :driving: But i really like the car i have now. I think 6 payments left,,,,,,YIPPIE$$$$$$$

Can't get over the low mileages you all seem to do, average here is around 10,000 to 12,000, my personal mileage is 15,000 to 20,000 busimess the same again. Looks like I will have to pay congestion charges next year grrr.

I've never driven an american car- unless you count belgian made for mondeos, so I am keeping out of this, car programmes here slag them off as being crap to drive. We have the honda accord, toyota etc, reputedly the suspension is modified for the american market.

Yes, I've noticed that too. It may be a combination of most people having several cars? I used to put about 40,000-50,000 miles per year on my car when I was in sales. I now just walk upstairs for my communte. :)

We have 3 cars. Just this fact alone tends to minimize the miles on any one particular vehicle.

You know I was thinking... years ago, all the ambulance companies used to

use Cadillacs... 'cause they were so reliable.

I've ridden in some Mercedeses (?) before, and it was a really really nice

quiet ride... heated seats and the whole bit. Hard to beat.
