SVGA monitor with Windows XP

Is there any reason a three year old SVGA monitor shouldn't work with Windows XP? The tech couldn't get it to function so I bought a new flat screen...but really prefer the other one. Any hints?

It could be the video card in your CPU which would have nothing to do with what windows program you were using.

I wouldn't swap my flat screen for anything I love it:-4
