Wanted: Gift ideas for my husband

Post by SOJOURNER »

58 years old

father of two daughters, 21 and 22 years old

Grandfather of 16 month old boy

Golfs

Has a 48 TC with a right hand drive (My 53 TD, which he bought for me maybe 17 years ago, he promptly took apart to refurbish and it remains to date as pieces parts.......... and I'm bitter!)

Involved in Masons -- was Master twice

Involved in Church - currently the Treasurer

Swims for exercise 3-4 times a week before going to work / walks on treadmill other days

Refs high school football games (really loves this)

Jewlery is out. He already has what he will wear.

Clothes are out. He's 6'3" and we buy at Harry's Big and Tall at the beginning of the season.

Books are out. He reads only when pushed to and then usually only when traveling on business outside the US.

Body fragrances are out. They are for girly-men.

HELP ME !!!!! :-5

The only thought I've been able to come up with is an automatic car started which would allow him to start his car and get it warmed up before he ventures out into the cold Ohio winter weather. :driving:

Any and all suggestions are welcome. P L E A S E

My dad got one of those automatic car starter things for Christmas one year and LOVED it!! Go for it! He loved it so much he bought one for my mom!

Your husband is like my dad. Almost impossible to buy for. They either have it already or don't need it. One Christmas though, I gave my dad, my father in law and my husband all those really NICE flashlights like the police carry.....a Maglight I think and they loved them. I threw in a shirt or something I think too, so it wasn't just a flashlight...

OK here are some other ideas......

Gift Certificates to:

....their favorite place to eat?

....2 tickets to the movie theatre?

....his favorite sporting goods store (golf)?

BBQ Gift Basket....I did this once w/ new BBQ utensils, a new cover for the pit and even bought a pretty pricey beef tenderloin that was on ice. I stuck seasonings, his favorite sauce and an apron in the basket.

A new bible or leather bound bible cover w/ pockets for notes/meetings w/in church?

New musical device/headphones etc...for the gym? Would spa stuff for men be to girlie for him? Some men really like some of the products out there....

Does he drink wine? How about a wine basket with different kinds of smoked meats, sausages etc?

I dunno I hope these help...let me know if not, I can come up w/ a lot more!!!!

OK, already a couple more....

This may sound ridiculous to some, but some men really love this practical stuff:

....go to their haircut place and buy a year worth of haircuts....or

....if they have lawn service, arrange for so many cuts or snow plows to be paid for....

Okay, he's 58, he's a good dad, he's a mason, church goer, mechanical (sort of), he likes golf, he's fit, he's a old fashioned kinda guy, he lives in ohio, hmmmmnnn.

A telescope? A small boat? (thats if you have enough money), The Frank Sinatra Collection? The instructions on how to put your car back together? A large glossy book on the War in the Pacific 1941-45, (not too much reading lots of pictures)? What about one of those all-purpose tool thingy's that you can put in your pocket (my girl got me one of those and it was great, till I had to use it) no forget that one.

I know, what about a large, interior lit, earth Globe, done in the old style way that they used to make maps, I bet he'd love that, seriously.

How about a waterproof sports watch with all the bells and whistles, functioning as a stop watch, lap watch etc. Very inexpensive. I have one that I bought a Wallgreens four years ago for $28.00. Keeps perfect time and I have had it down to 80ft while scuba diviing.

What a lovely idea Minks gave you Sojo! Where's your sense of adventure?

Surely your hubby never received coupons before! Yep...could be a fun gift, for sure! ;)

How about a LARGE flat screen TV?

Through the ages of time men have always liked belly dancers. A belly dancer would be a thoughtful gift.
