The War on Terror, what's it all about eh?

Right, said I would. So question: how do you have a war on "terror" and is it also possible to have a war on "nightmares" or a war on "empathy" it seems a bit non-sequiter to me. But seriously is it possible to win such a war, in a military sense? Has the invasion and occupation of Iraq improved or worsened the situation?. Is it feasible to use a military option in the case of Iran? What about North Korea? Why is there such hatred of western governments in Islamic societies, is it our leaders and their policies that they hate, or our way of life? I think personally its a heady mix of revolutionary politics, post-colonial arab nationalism, and our dependence on their oil. Your thoughts please.
