femininity

what, in your opinion, defines femininity? in the context of another thread it was mentioned that a woman "wants to behave like a woman", and i replied if i acted like a girly- girl on my job i'd be dead meat by now...which does not preclude my feminine attributes . what does femininity mean to each of you, male or female? :yh_flower :yh_femfig :yh_angel :yh_devil

Femininity, in contrast to masculinity, is seen to be a virtue in a woman, a characteristic or trait which is part of a successful woman's persona. You either have it or you don't. It is your essence as a women.. You feel it at your core, you wake up every day knowing this... You can be tough, competitive, able to shoot a gun, run a fortune 500 business, raise kids, coach soccer, be a soccer mom, dig a ditch, be a cop, ride a horse, work on a oil rig.. what ever you want and still be feminine. We know it frankly I have never questioned my femininity.

Having said that I have worked most of my life in a field that is dominated by men. I have adapted to that and still managed to keep my femininity... !! Actually it has always worked in my favor to be feminine..

Boy, LC, that's a toughie. It's sort of like I know *I* am feminine and

I know YOU are... but how to define it? Because it's so many things wrapped

into one package... but I do think, believe it or not, that feminine is

STRENGTH in a lot of ways. Strength to deal with what a woman has

to deal with.

I can ride and rope with the best of 'em, but I also like to (well it's been

a while since I've had the opportunity!) put on really sexy high heels and

maybe a silk jacket with a bustier peeking out underneath and go OUT.

Doesn't matter if I'm with my man, although I love that and he does too,

it's just a whole way of being that is ME. I would find it really hard to act

truly masculine.

I'm floundering here, I know!

A pic I've seen of you in your cop uniform, you to me command respect,

but I can tell you are feminine somehow. Maybe it's that megawatt

smile of yours. Maybe it's knowing you like red nail polish.

I'd be really interested in seeing other replies on here.

Its a subtleness. A look, a touch, a mannerism, a spoken word. Look at this photo, shes beautiful to be sure but it goes deeper than her outward appearance. Shes a woman and I can feel that in the way she exudes not only a sexual side to her but something beneath the surface bubbles with femininimninity

I honestly dont know how to describe it. Its a magic that women posses. The outward appearance only scratches the surface, it comes from within. God I do love women !

Classy, well-mannered, delicate, pretty, friendly, honest, warm-hearted, caring, helpful, respectful and thoughtful of the needs of others.

Intelligence is optional as a feminine attribute. If you're too smart as a woman, men feel threatened. If you're dumb as sin, then some men consider it a blessing.

Obviously, getting into street fights does not fall into this category at all!

I dont think feminine attributes are as easy to call, lm not going to say looks as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also l have known some really beautiful women who once you get to know them are really down deep ugly and men realise it too. Normally after a few months.

It is a gift something you have or don't have. a woman could be in jeans and a shirt and exude that feminine pull. Another could be wearing an alluring dress and just look like she's trying to hard...

Its like being masculine it covers many aspects...

And l reckon you could have an almighty fight and still look feminine....:sneaky:

Not this man. Intelligence is the most feminine of attributes. Dumb is a culturally imposed stereotype. Dumb is a subset of needy. It can be dishonest. Marilyn Monroe played dumb, yet, reportedly had a genius level IQ. That's manipulative. It reflected the mores of her era. We don't live in those times.

Women who embrace their independance, and with it, their ability to WANT to be in love and in harmony with another soul, rather than need to be taken care of, are the most feminine of all.

I think Venus has covered everything that I would have said.

It's something in a woman that just shines through ....all the dressing up in the world doesn't mean a woman is feminine and it's quite different from being sexy...it's being 'womanly'....geez this is SO hard to define.

I love your description of your mother.. that is it in a nutshell. She was confident, comfortable in her own skin and it made her beauty shine through. That is totally femininity in every sense of the word...
