The most expensive country
Hi All in the Forum Garden,
Even though I'm only a member a short while I missed you all.
I was in the Algarve in Portugal for a week which was nice.
It was soooo expensive though.
I was in the Grand Canarys in May and things were really cheap there.
Anybody else been to some other places and were surprised by the prices?
Jen xx

England, I went to England and couldn't belive the price of meat.
I pay approx 4 pounds (don't have a pound sign on my key board) for 1 kilo ( 2lb ) of rump steak.
What do you pay in England and other countries?

Well in Ireland everything is pretty expensive but I was so surprised that Portugal was as well. They are supposed to be abolishing a Grocery Law here soon so that will induce some competition. Hopefully.
The sad thing is that the people earn really low wages but the cost of living got really high since the introduction of the Euro

It's the same here in Spain since the Euro, wages low and prices just getting higher all the time, I did hear that Portugal was cheaper to live than here...but its still not as bad as Ireland.

Yeah I don't drink it either but that's a big price difference.
The best thing about Ireland has to be that I now have Broadband for only 39 per month ( no landline needed )

Jennyswan, a fellow Irish person, at last! Ah its so nice hearing an Irishwoman complain about the price of meat, it reminds me of my childhood. Anyway, I don't know what you think, but to me Dublin is one of the most overpriced cities in Europe. London (despite the sterling thing) and Paris feel like much less of a rip off. Maybe the grocery order thing will make it less painful. You got broadband for 39 Euro? damn, you beat me by 1.

Back to the most expencive-- I have the privledge of shopping on the army base out here, Ill just compare the price of milk between clarksville TN and Fort Campbell TN/KY
Wallmart:3.68 per gallon
Kroger:3.89 per gallon
Commecary:2.02per gallon
So aside from the fact its 1.64 cheaper per gallon on post i also dont have to pay the 9.6 percent sales tax too. I dont know how people out here can grocery shop at all. Thank God for Army perks:-4
