Falling behind here!!!

Post by BabyRider »

Hey gang!! I have so much stuff to catch up on with all of you. So many new posts, and a few things that have gone on the past couple days that I want to tell you about, and some job stuff and funny stories about the morons that are my customers....sheesh, I'm a bit overwhelmed!! I'm not sure where to start, so I'll begin with something simple:

Have any of you tried those Betty Crocker microwave dessert bowls yet? I had the hot brownie double chocolate sinful death by fudge orgasm one so far, and it is..........soooooo........good..... :yh_drool

OK, we'll start there and see where this leads, I actually have a serious subject I'll work my way up to.

Ah, Far, I have the market cornered on idiot customers. Actually, Peg and I do, we're bartenders so our customers are usually drunk. :yh_rotfl

My particular group of patrons yesterday were unusually horny. They kept dropping stuff on the floor when I went by in hopes I'd bend over to pick it up. I kept telling them I don't do the floors there, but they aren't the brightest group, so needless to say, my bar was a mess. I also explained I'd be more than happy to bend down to pick up 20 dollar bills, but apparently they didn't want to see my butt that bad.

I know, isn't it sad?? Just every once in a while for me, too, but most especially after a really long night at work. If I know I have that to look forward to, I can deal with all the perverts.

Oh, Dev....Betty Crocker has come out with a thing called "Warm Delights." It's a bowl with brownie or cake mix that you add a little water to, zap it in the microwave for a few seconds, and drizzle the fudge over the top. Little single servings of hot, melty, chocolatey brownie.....ugh.....so damn good. I really like a chewy brownie and that's how this comes out. Haven't you seen them yet? They're fairly new, and I'm thinking of buying some stock. :yh_giggle

I'll be swinging by the grocery store on my way home in hopes of the same reactions you had after trying them :D They sound wonderful.

OK, progressing to next topic:

My boss is 81 years old. She's been running the bar for 60 years. Very old-school, very stubborn and set in her ways. I will give her the credit she is due; after all having a successful business for all these years, she's doing SOMETHING right.

However. She apparently thinks that her staff, regardless of age or experience, has the collective IQ of 3 gnats. Me included. She actually asked me if, after Bullet and I were married, would he "allow" me to continue working? I reminded her what decade we were in, laughing, and said, "Bullet doesn't have a say in the matter." She also tried to call off one of the band members (who is closer in age to my son than to me) because she thought he was trying to pick me up. She knows Bullet, as does the band member, and this tells me that she thinks I am a helpless, brainless bimbo, unable to resist the "charms" of this child.

Trying to tell her that I am a grown woman, more than capable of handling any band member, let alone an entire bar full of goofy, shallow, obvious men is pointless. She thinks we're all stupid and she knows what's best for us. I managed to manage my whole entire life for 34 years before I even laid eyes on this old broad. How do I tell her that I have no need of her help or advice or protection without p!ssing her off?

At 81 years old, unfortunately, I don't think you have a prayer of

changing her now. Know that isn't what you wanted to hear, but that's

the way I think it is.

I think the best you can hope for at this point is to keep on doing what

you're doing, and SHOW her things. Plod away at it, and keep your

cool.

I must say, it's nice that you recognize what she's done. Shows a lot of

class, BR!

Oh I give her all kinds of credit, Val. She's successful, no one can take that away from her. I just have a hard time sucking up condescention, and it's really presumptuous of her to assume I need her advice about my personal life.

You're probably right, there's not much hope of changing her at this age, I was just thinking someone may have something I hadn't thought of. Sometimes someone totally removed from the situation has a good sight of it. It's an annoyance I can live with, I just hate feeling like a 16 year old sometimes, ya know?

Well, you're right about that, I mean about somebody else having something

you or I hadn't thought of! Here's hoping they do. I would hate to work

under those kind of conditions, I'd probably lose it one day and thus lose

my job!!

Working helping my dad move, I did lose it one day. He's 79 and stubborn

and opinionated and knows everything about everything. I actually for

the first time in my life had to walk away and cool off, at 52 years old

I had NEVER yelled at my father before, wouldn't dream of it. But I did.

ICK.

Nice to see you back online again BR. Work sounds like a mad house. As for your boss hmmmm I bet she will never change. And likely due to being old school will always have something to say. Smile at her and walk away hehehe or kick her cane out from under her.
