Good morning world!!

Post by Katy1 »

Hello all,

I did post something yesterday but the I found this and thought that i might introduce myself properly, here goes.

I am from England, Bristol to be precise-not far from the city of Bath and a stonesthrow away from Glastonbury (Stonehenge, Knights of the Round table, King Arthur and all that)

I'm 28 and have two boys, one 13 months and the other 8 weeks which I damned hard work but entirely my fault......well my fault and the fault of a jolly nice bottle of wine last Christmas! Lol.

If I didn't have so many bottles to prepare and nappies to change I'd probably be listening to music (everything from 60's pop, soul, funk, ska and old skool rap through to rock, punk, brit pop and breakbeat.....) I might also be painting or drawing or watching comedy (Monty Python, Alan Partridge, Bill Bailey etc.)

That is if I had the time......of course, I make time for the odd post.....

My claim to fame? Well....my Great Uncle is Dave Prowse who played Darth Vader in the first three films.

Anyway, I must away. I'm sure I'll speak to many of you soon I hope.

You'll have time for all that sooner than you think. They eventually do grow up. Too fast, and too soon.

Thanks everyone,

Yes, he was the ggcm!! Stop, Look, Listen and think and all that. I have the 7 inch first edition of the single that was released. TBH I don't even think it charted. Lol!!

This does look like a great forum, having looked around. And it's nice to speak to people from all over the world. I joke that if I'd had the internet before I started having children they may never had come about ;D

Thanks again for your hospitality!

Well, it's like this....

Firstly, Dave has a 'Westcountry accent' now, here in Britain it's sometimes seen as the accent of, lets say, the less intellegent among us. Obviously that's wrong (having a slight westcountry accent myself!) but it's the sort of accent that get stereotyped in programmes on Tv as 'the village idiot' or maybe the 'Country bumpkin', which would not related translated very well into the language of 'the dark side'!Lol!! And also, rumour has it that when they got to the end of the film they realised that there weren't any 'people of colour' in the film so gave him a black mans voice.

They didn't show his face because he has a 'wandering eye'- meaning one eye doesn't always do what the other one does!(well that the reason I think anyway, bit of a touchy subject.) That again wouldn't do very well.....'Luke, I am your......LUKE!! I'm talking tou you!':D

They chose Dave for the helmeted Darth because he's 6 foot eight inches tall and was a bodybuilder so was able to fill the suit and do the action bits.

He's friend with Luis Ferrigno (spelling!) who played The Incredible Hulk. I have a very amusing photo of them bot, stood outside my Grandma's house, he invited Lis over when he visited England. Not many English Grandma's can say they had afternoon tea with Darth Vader and the Incredible Hulk, huh?!

Yes, I remember there was a load of those short films being salvaged so we didn't lose them. I, personally am a fan of the 'electricity kills' ones with the tales of misadventure and the electricity sub station. Was it wrong to find them so funny??

BTW Dave also bit parted all over the place-he was in 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'Bewitched'!! He pops up all over the place. I saw him once on the credits of a 'Confessions of a....' film. I must stress, i only caught he end credits-far too high brow for me....

Most of the time it was probably real bad being stuck down in a dungeon. But some days, when there was a bad storm outside, you'd look out your little window and think, "Boy, I'm glad I'm not out in that. You see where Im going with this Katy ? If you do can you fill me in ?

Welcome ! :-6
