In an attempt to be Politically Correct, airport security in my view is wasting time and energy patting down and checking out what are obviously non threatening individuals. I am 6'4", white hair, 70 years old and have been in many airports since 9/11 and I am patted down, legs apart, hands over head, off with the shoes. I make no fuss about it, but give me a break!!! Little ole grannies checked out as well. While it is true that some people cannot distinguish Japanese from Chinese or Italians from Arabs, is it not safe to say that some people just don't fit a terrorist profile by any stretch of the imagination?

all i can say is miami police learned via the 'supremes' that it is not good to "profile'. so if you are running up the 95 corridor in a mercedes with 10 kilos of coke and an AK-47, feel free. experience be damned. the airport security are trying to show they are NOt profiling by patting down the elderly.

At first I used to agree with what you have said. :-2 I saw an elderly "frail" lady who could hardly hold up her arms who was being screened by a security guard with a Hand held sensor. She certainly did not look like, and was physically not any "threat" what-so-ever! However, after thinking about it I realized looks can be deceiving. As one can never tell just by looking at someone where their sympathies & or allegiance lies. The "elderly" lady could in fact be a terrorsist sympathizer, and be carrying a knife, gun, box cutter or some weapon on her person. That if not searched and she passed security, she could then give those weapons to the 6'-4" strapping physically fit man/men who had nothing on them when they went throught the scanners! (and or hand held scanners) You can never be too sure of anything! :wah:
