A dose of the flu in Ireland.

Post by Galbally »

Can't shake this bloody flu, got all the good drugs as well off the doctor, I am so tired and sleepy, I took the dog for a walk up the river today and just felt like going for a nap on the bank! Anyone got any advice for (legally) aliveating symptoms of flu, snotty nose, bunged up chest, sore eyes, sleepy, grumpy, all-round general crapness?

Get some Benylin for dry coughs...its the one in the blue bottle. DONT get the non-drowsy. Get comfy in bed, take a swig, and in 30 seconds you'll be out like a light for 8 hours solid! It wont make the germans go away but you'll feel better after a good nights sleep and it will help you be another day closer to getting over it!

Oh, the other half always has lemsip with hot water and whisky - dont know how much good it does, but he enjoys it! hehehe

Best wishes my little snot-pot friend, hope youre feeling better soon! ;)

Thanks for these ideas, I've already maxed out on benylin, Sudfed, an anti biotic, eputex, lemsip, and god knows what else, any more and I will need rehab. I will give the chicken soup a go, I have a jar of Campbells in the press (cupboard). Keep the ideas coming in, I need some relief!

How about a 'Hot Toddy'

INGREDIENTS:

1 teaspoon honey

2 fluid ounces boiling water

1 1/2 fluid ounces whiskey

3 whole cloves

1 cinnamon stick

1 slice lemon

1 pinch ground nutmeg
DIRECTIONS:

Pour the honey, boiling water, and whiskey into a mug. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon, and put in the slice of lemon. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes so the flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving.

Two shots of blackberry brandy and I'm feeling extra groovy. Clears the sinuses, warms the belly and makes the brain happy.

Night nurse with a glas of wine or whisky. You're not supposd to as it knocks you out but I reckon it gives the body peace to fight the virus.
