New York City parade launches Thanksgiving Day

Pikachu floats along after earlier fears that high winds might force balloons to stay grounded.

Millions of spectators turned out for the 79th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, as its floats and giant balloons made their way through the streets of New York City. The annual tradition kicked off a day of feasts with family for many, while in Iraq emotions were mixed.

Turkey, mashed potatos, sweet potatos, stuffing, fresh baked rolls, vegetable of choice-like peas, corn, salald, desert of pumpkin pie, mincemeat pie, and everything else under the sun! Southern style here,we also have a small baked ham on the side.

Good eats!

Hey that's what we have on Christmas day except for the Pumpkin Pie and Sweet Potatoes. What do you guys eat on Christmas day then?

It varies according to family tradition-we have had ham, turkey, duck-something like that on Christmas Day. New Year's Day is ham and the fixings, although I don't make the greens.

This year I'm going to Hamburg for xmas and they celebrate on the 24th. Should be interesting. I hope they don't want me to eat snails or anything to reptilien ;)

*snails*

I don't think I would ever eat them, at my age, I politely decline to eat stuff I don't know what it is.

*looking for brand name on bottom of food*
