As for your mom at least she is trying.

I forgave my cousin after he apologized but I would never trust him with young girls - or boys again. And yes - the Mom tries which is why she gets to come to our house.

One Christmas we were visiting her, and she was sure she had cancer, she was crying hysterically while I drove her to the doctor. Come to find out, she was constipated (apparently it runs in the family.)

I have to say my sister too... and her family. I'm honestly not looking forward to going to my mom's because my sister & her entire family (husband, 3 kids & 2 BIG dogs) have been staying there for MONTHS now. They're supposedly moving out next month. It's just too much chaos!! And her life is always soooo terrible. When I suggest ways to improve it, all I hear is (& I HATE this word) I can't. Bull*&^%!! Then my niece & nephew act up & they get screamed at. It's just too much commotion!!

BTW, I don't think MY sister's constipated. :-3 But I DO think she's full of ^&%$!! :wah: :wah:

Be afraid - very afraid. Never trust him alone with ANY young girl. It seems to be true those who molest in the family stay in the family but I'm not convinced it couldn't happen with someone outside the family.

The ex-brother-in-law.

What a booze hound! When he wakes up in the morning, after he has a cup of coffee, he starts hitting the booze until he goes to sleep at night. Rarely eats all day. After a few beers, ya don't know what the heck he's talking about because of his slurred speech. Try avoiding him like the plague!

How his wife has put up with him for the past 20 some years, is beyond me! And, one wonders how he can stay employed!

Don't have that problem any more, after years of problem riddled holidays, we just don't invite the ones who were the problems. Makes everyone else that is there happier! :wah:

(and then when we are not invited to those problem relative's parties, we are so relieved! They did us a favor without them even knowing it)

I agree.

I didn't actually do so with intent, but the results are the same. I have a sister and brother with their families which we no longer see.........

Just cause you come from the same gene pool doesn't mean you need to associate with each other.

On the other hand, another sister and her husband live 224 miles away and we are close with them. I'd say one out of three ain't too bad.........

Lately everyone is on my last nerve. My aunts on my dad's side can all go p!ss in a high wind and my dad himself needs a major reality check. My mother needs to climb down off her high horse and realize she's a fallible mortal just like the rest of us, and my fiance needs to grow the hell up. The only person who isn't on my sh!t list right now is my son. I'm pretty sure he's the only sane one left.

And people ask why I hate the holidays? Because I have to spend hours at a time surrounded by selfish, inconsiderate, clueless twits.

Can't say I have any relatives I don't like, but then I suppose I don't really see many of them, as they live to far away to visit. Still see my grandparents though monthly, but they are adorable!!

I could say my brother as well. He eats with his mouth open, while breathing like Darth Vader. I can barely stomach it. But it seems, his wife are coming up with illness after illness every single holiday. Last Christmas, they told my mom they weren't coming. I forget the excuse. So, my daughter & I didn't bring their presents along, figuring they wouldn't be there & we'd give them to them some other time. Well, they showed up anyway! And we had NOTHING to give them or my nephew! Nobody did!! Then he said he told Mom they'd try to stop in. I STILL have their gifts! Now, he's telling me they can't come to Thanksgiving dinner because his son just got out of the hospital with pneumonia (which was about 2-3 weeks ago) & his wife has bronchitis. It's always SOMETHING! But then, if I'D miss on coming, I hear it! But he's the only boy & Mom's always kinda let him get away with more.

Hmmm, let's see.

Most of my inlaws. Most of them drink like the fishes and a couple of them gamble to boot. HOWEVER, my husband's twin brother will be in town next week - on leave from Germany - and we are looking forward to seeing him.

My dad. But that really isn't a problem. I can count the number of times I have seen him since I was nineteen one hand and since he and my mom are divorced, he is not invited to either family holiday gathering.

My daughter. Ever since she left for college, she seems to have lost her flippin' mind! She is engaged to a control freak with an odd family and is just thrilled that they consider her one of their own. Heck - she seemed to think that DH was flying home from a war zone for Thanksgiving dinner. Not for R & R mind you, just for dinner.

Well --- the holiday spirit hit the fan tonight when my Mom and BTS got into a verbal altercation. I had to leave the room and could still hear them yelling at each other. I hate the holidays - it brings out the best in everyone.. But you all know what...............this was the first time in my life I had a husband watch my back and support me.......thanks BTS :-4

SnoozeControl wrote: Ah, my poor mother, god rest her soul. During the holidays when my family would all be crammed into a smallish space watching a carefully chosen video (carefully chosen so she'd enjoy it, of course,) and if there was any sort of expletive or slight possibility of sexual nuance, she'd huff and puff in righteous indignation so loudly none of us could hear the movie. I got fed up once and asked her to hold it down, and she walked out in a snit and refused to talk to me. Merry expletive Christmas.

Oh Yeah - that was my house tonight. My Mom went for a drive after the fight and came home and POUTED for an hour. She then asked me if she needed to go buy dinner at a fast food because she was hungry. Dang - dinner was sitting on the stove!!! She ate in silence with the lower lip hanging to the ground and then went to bed. I've been in FG since mid way through the fight. Love you people.:-4

Both my grandmas used to hit the wine pretty hard on Thanksgiving and one yr they started fighting so we packed up the food and left grandma ones house and went home with grandma two and finished the meal. Grandma two passed out in her sweet potatos. Im not saying this like its a bad thing just that I think of it every Thanksgiving. :D

It just occured to me that my brother will be sharing the festivities with his girlfriend's family this year. This means that for the first time in several years there will be all women at Thanksgiving dinner (except for my 7 year old son) so there will be NO FOOTBALL!!!!!!
