"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

one guy got a beating in a walmart down here for cutting in line! ---------------------November 25, 2005

Sales, shoppers and scuffles

Bargain shoppers, many facing frigid temperatures, woke up before dawn to snap up specials on items from cashmere sweaters to flat-screen TVs and digital music players as the holiday shopping season officially got under way. Things got out of hand at a Wal-Mart store in Orlando, Florida, where a man who allegedly cut in line to get a discounted laptop computer was wrestled to the ground, according to WFTV-TV.

I'm off to Toys r us to get a couple of things for the grandchildren, and my present to myself - a flat screen telly for my bedroom - there are loads of offers at the moment to boost the Christmas sales, but January sales will be the time when everyone goes mad and the 'riots' start. Definitely WON'T be getting involved with that.

Good luck to anyone else that's Christmas shopping today..see yer laters..xx

I had to spend $950.00 on my car yesterday. It took 5 and a 1/2 hrs. It was next to a mall so thats where I was....at the mall. I fell asleep in a comfy chair at Borders so it wasnt too bad.

Black friday is the day after Thanksgiving here in the states.....it is America's biggest shopping day of the year. People go nuts. Basically everybody eats like crazy on Thanksgiving, then goes to bed and gets up at 4 am to get the biggest sales and deals for their Christmas shopping. A lot of the stores advertise unheard of prices, and buy one/get one free, 75% off.....but only while supplies last or a couple hours. Usually the people getting up/waiting in line/camping out on parking lots have a particular item in mind....like yesterday at Walmart it was their laptop computers!!! Don't even know what the price was, but they only had 68 of them and they were gone in less than 2 hours.

All that said, even though I was there, I am NOT one of those people! I wasn't after anything in particular. My neighbor asked me to go w/ her and I just happen to be a morning person....so why not? I did it last yr and now it's almost like I didn't want to miss out on the frenzy!!!!! It gets me "into" the season!!!

Yeah stay away from the electronics stores!! Those are the ones where the fuss is all about usually. A Best Buy here had a line that wrapped around the building.... when we passed by at 6 am, the lot was FULL and cars were parked in the grass! The way I feel, there is just nothing that could be that important to me to wait in a line like that!!! I would rather pay extra later than have to be elbowing my way around one of those places that early!
