"Convicted Killer" Andrya Yates (The Mother who drowned all of her children) just had her conviction overturned via an appeal! Due to a inaccurate statement during the trial made by the Doctor involved in the case. I think overturning it was wrong! She still is "killer" regardless what the doctor said :wah:

It seems the pregnancy and birth and post-partum fluctuations are what bring on her insanity and if all these conditions are met, why not let her live in the real world again to relive over and over what she has done.
Why should the public support her if she is prevented from her desire to kill in the future..... let her live on her own support as long as she is monitored closely.
She isn't likely to kill again if she does not become pregnant again.

Cars, i've tried to find out about Andrea Yates & have read the trial info, but i'm a lttle confused, when you say she's had her trial overturned do you mean she has been found not guilty? or that she has been sentenced to life inprisonment opposed to the death penalty?
Either way, shame on Dietze for not getting his facts right, you'd expect someone with at least 1/2 a brain to get them correct before standing up in a court of law, or maybe it was the $500 per hour he was being paid by the prosecution clouding his judgement........

IMO the person who should be in jail is Mr. Yates.. who although he knew his wife was having problems made her homeschool 5 children, you know they lived in a school bus at one point?
She belongs in an mental institution not prison, she is mentally ill - a complete departure from that B!tch Susan Smith who killed her kids on purpose. Andrea needed help, medication, counselling and support and instead her husband kept getting her pregnant and not letting her leave home, 5 kids and a mentally ill woman with no support - homeschooling them!!
She will get a new trial, she is not being released from prison ~ I expect them to prove she is mentally deficient this time and institutionalize her for the rest of her life. I do not believe she will ever be out in society again.
Her husband is apparently getting remarried and has filed for divorce from Andrea.

Well WC.. as far as allowing her back into society I would have to disagree with that. Without constant monitoring to ensure that she is taking her medications, seeing her counselor etc. I don't see where she can be a contributing member to society anymore. Example.. her in the little old state that I live in a man forgot to take his meds... consequently he went into city park one fine afternoon and clubbed a woman to death while we were sitting across the green eating lunch. Now they say he is cured and can be released from the mental hospital he is in.. sorry.. no way.. .. the uproar over this has been tremendous..
She will get a new trial.. probably with the same results..

RIDICULOUS, more money for a new trial? I think it is a waste, if she needs her meds increased just give it to her? Her brain is no better now then the time of the killings? Post-partum depression, yes it happens, rarely does a woman kill ALL her children. She is a KILLER and should be in jail forever...sorry. :-1

I really should join the world and have a look at some of these news stories.
I have always thought her husband should have been a co-conspirator in her trial because he enabled her to continue her madness without help, putting her children in danger every day. Now he is getting married? To make more children? Of course. The man is a mad as his wife is.
Mental institutions are even worse than jail....but if she is given medication and monitoring that's about the best society can do for her.
My old gripe is that people ignore their mental status until they are really ill (then often not realizing it)....when they are told to visit their doctor an dentist regularly, nobody pays attention to their minds. Mental problems still carry stigma for our "modern" societies.
I would feel better if she were kept from society, and perhaps one day when medications improve her mental status and she is older and more fragile, she will be able to function in a group home of some kind..... I just can't see her in a jail with all those frightening and violent criminals.

Although it made me sick.. I followed the information regarding this woman pretty closely when it happened. I have also seen her husband interviewed. He was a religious fanatic. She was convinced that her role in life was to do nothing to prevent pregnancy, He knew she was in very serious mental condition, and yes he continued to leave her alone with the children. He became involved with someone else. They already have a child. I am not going to comment on what I feel should be done with her. As in the case of the teens and the pregnancy, I cannott be rational about this. The details of the deaths of these children, were some of the most horriffic events I have ever heard.
