Where was that guy years ago who tied a set of antlers on to a log and

every year would fish out all the brass for his own use? Anybody remember

that?

I like to tie something red around my ponytail, just in case!

and then there are the 'slob' hunters. . . . . those big brave hunters that shoot the baby bears and puff up their chest like they vanquished something fierce.

When I lived in Northern Maine, it was serious business making sure that your dogs were in somehow marked so as not to be mistaken for a deer. And almost every year someone's dog was killed. Since a lot of the people up there own acres of land, the dogs were often shot on their own property.

More and more farmers are doing this in PA. People are even placing fluorecent orange ribbons on their pets. Heck, I won't even take my dog outdoors during hunting season without a fluorecent orange collar on him. One farmer actually had his cow butchered in his field during the night. Perps shot and killed the cow and only harvested the hind quarters.

With the PA Game Commission lacking enough officer's to cover the State, they just can't keep up with the tremendous amount of outlawing that takes place. Right now, our County doesn't even have a local game warden and will be without one until the 2006 class graduates. Neighboring warden's are trying to handle their Counties as well as ours. If it weren't for the general public getting involved and reporting violations, it would really be out of hand. I know in my County, the State Police are called to handle more game law violation than the game commission. Why? Because they are easier to get ahold of and they respond!
