Another newbie....don't get too excited, now...

Greetings, everyone!

I heard (over and over and over) what a great place this was, so I decided to come check it out for myself.

A little about me: I live in Michigan, single mom of a preadolescent, work in marketing for an auto parts manufacturer (it's hard to get away from the car business in this part of the world!) and I'm a full-time college student as well. I am a singer, a Civil War living historian (most would call me a re-enactor), and an artist. I create jewelry from metal, glass, and semiprecious stone.

I'm opinionated, fiscally conservative but socially liberal, and uninhibited when it comes to sharing what I think. I've heard that this place is a great place to do so, and that you all respect one another enough to share opinions and viewpoints without personal attacks. I think I'm going to like it here!

Hey Erinna!!!! You and I could have some good talks, I think, as I am opinionated myself, and not shy about sharing.

You seem to know your way around politics, judging from your intro... and there's a bunch of great debates going on about that! Being a bit uninformed in that area, I mostly read, trying to learn. Welcome!!! You're gonna love it!!!

Hey BabyRider...I sing lots of stuff. I've been singing since I was about six, off and on....I like to find a new karaoke bar that I haven't been to before and just blow them away

(and I'm modest, too) My sister likes to come with me. :sneaky: :yh_giggle

Yep, a re-enactor recreates scenes from whichever period they happen to be re-enacting. My period is the War Between the States. I love to dress up in my 19th-century clothes and walk around battlefields. It's a great icebreaker.
