How close is the litter box to where you feed her? It needs to be as far away
as possible.
Have you recently changed litters? Go back to the old one if that's the case
And sometimes, nothing less than a trip to the vet will help. Sometimes
kitties get UTI's, the litter box becomes a painful experience, so they try
to go somewhere else hoping to ease their physical discomfort.
Also, sometimes kitties get weirded out by things happening in the household,
changes of any kind. Try to get things on an even keel if that is the case.
Some kitties really like privacy, Paul's kitty has a covered box and it is in a
closet.
Regular feeding times? Regular play time? It all helps.
Let me know if there's anything else you need, and good luck.

EEEWWWWWW!!!
Forgot to mention, have you cleaned where she goes really, really good?
You could try a product called Nature's Miracle. It's an enzymatic that
makes it so they won't try and go there again. (Hopefully!)

Snooze, how old is Trilby? How long ago did you change litters? How's her diet and what is she eating?
(Sorry it took me so long to get here, but you have LC to thank. She let me know about the thread.)
Got big news, (hence my lateness) watch for a thread.

I'd wondered if maybe you were feeding a goofy diet, but 1/2 a can of Fancy Feast shouldn't be too bad, and Iam's is a very good food.
2 months is long enough that they should be used to the new litter by now, so I'd have to guess that it's an actual physical problem, something we can't "diagnose" over the web. Nothing else strange about the cat's behavior? Just the carpet crapping?
Also, her age isn't really a factor, either. She's right in her prime. I'm with Val on this one, too: I'd strongly urge a trip to the vets. Let us know how that goes, too, would ya?

Nope. I'm not worried. But you know what else? Nothing here has changed all that much, and I have some free time to hang out on the computer. Bullet's watching his Bermuda Triangle show and I'm alternating between teasing him (messing with his brain teasing, not what you sick people are thinking) and yakking with you guys. It's a great evening!

lol
Okay it's not funny really. I have 7 cats (I inherited some when Mum and Dad died).
My thought was that maybe you're being too scrupulous in your cleaning. Try leaving a little of the old litter tray in the clean one so she can smell where to go, or she'll just pick any spot and keep doing it.

You know, Comfortably, you may really be on to something there.
Maybe cleaning twice a day disturbs her too much. Maybe cut it back
to once. Worth a try.

Or maybe a party is in order
Cut the cake
Kitty Litter Cake
1 pk Spice cake mix
1 pk White cake mix
1 pk White sandwich cookies
1 sm Package instant vanilla pudding mix
12 sm Tootsie Rolls
Prepare cake mixes and bake according to directions. Prepare pudding mix and chill until ready to assemble. Crumble white sandwich cookies in small batches in blender. They tend to stick, so scrape often.
When cakes are cooled, crumble into a large bowl. Toss with half the cookie crumbs and the chilled pudding. Gently combine. Pour into a clean kitty litter box.
Put unwrapped Tootsie Rolls in a microwave safe dish two at a time and heat until soft and pliable. Shape ends so they are no longer blunt, curving slightly. Repeat until you have nine, and bury them in the mixture. Sprinkle the other half of cookie crumbs over top. Heat three more Tootsie Rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with cookie crumbs. Serve with a new pooper scooper.

try rubbing orange peel or oil of cloves around where she poops. They don't like the smell. Secondly, when you clean the litter tray, retain a little bit of the used stuff...not a lot, but it's like a homing beacon. Don't use bleach or disenfectant on her tray and if possible let her out or fit a cat flap.

Refresh my memory... what are you feeding her? Might be time for a
diet change...
Or you could have her tested for parasites... is she an indoor kitty?
If not, then she's subject to picking up just about any run-causing
things outside.
Sorry you have to deal with this kind of thing!

Sorry Snooze just re-read the thread.
If I understand, only one cat has the runs and the other is fine?
That might rule out some things, since both of them would have it.
Do you "free feed"? If you do, I'd quit that. And maybe drop down
the protein content of what you're feeding, to say, 31% if yours is
at 34%. Not too low, cats do need their protein. And try a different
food. Over time, cats can become sensitized to something in the
food (corn is a biggie!) and that will give them runs. And maybe one
cat hasn't got there yet and Trilby has.
I would also suggest the old standby bland diet, boiled skinless
chicken breast, cottage cheese and rice. No Fancy Feast, no Iams.
The runs WILL clear up. Then SLOWLY introduce the new food you've
decided on, and see how it goes.
Remember to clean the poopy spot with Nature's Miracle!
Let me know if you have any other questions.
