Has anyone experienced an online stalker?

Post by lady cop »

i did...a freaking dentist!! and it got so bad that i finally went public on a forum and asked him if he wanted me to send his city police to his house or his office. he continued for some time under different email addresses, but i checked all the IPs and did send his local police for a chat. WHO IS DUMB ENOUGH TO STALK A COP???

I stupidly gave him my home address so we could exchange b-day cards, etc. Well, psycho-boy decided I was "cheating" on him and went around to all the chat rooms in existence and plastered my personal info around. It gets worse. He pretended to be me and sent email to a bunch of imprisoned convicts. I had TONS of snail mail coming in from all these scary guys.

I got some nice photos, though.:o

Your post was a nice alert. Secure in our homes, and bonding to personalities created by words, one can unknowingly become vulnerable to questionable characters.

You are far from naive, but yet look how you were pulled in.......... makes you realize just how vulnerable children are when they play on the net.

*laughs* At least you got some nice pictures out of it, Snooze!

I did have one person harass me online, and it was actually through a security loophole though a forum I belonged to!

Here's some advice: do not use the same password for your email address that you do for your public forum accounts. Especially not if you do any sort of e-commerce stuff! I had someone get into my email account and send quite a few rude letters (and some embarassing pictures I had *blush*) to people in my email address book and it caused a lot of grief. I also had some bank stuff in there he got to.

Luckily the jerk was pompous enough to keep a WEBSITE where he would brag about his "hacking" and then post all sorts of personal info about the people he'd scammed. He was arrested. :o

I have had one too, as anyone knows form the WM fiasco. He stalked me right into that forum.

He is currently on MSN's watch list.

My advise, if you get friendly with anyone be careful of the info you share. If anyone here owns a hotmail account and recalls when you signed up and the questions they ask you.... that is personal stuff don't share it. It is all easy stuff to share and if ya do, a good hacker or stalker can get into your email and once in they will spread filth about you, they will contact your friends, hell they even have the power to change your password and block you out. Been there done that. Cudos to MSN as they helped me get my email back and block him out, my only saving grace and one key piece of info the stalker dude did not know.... my postal code.
