Good intentions are a waste of time

Welllll....I had good intentions. I was going to save cash for a new car, trade it in every 3-4 years, and forever bypass the need for a mechanic (after the last one wrecked my car).

Ha!

So, I drove home tonight in a Pontiac Grand Prix. It's white. It has 4 tires and they are all round. The radio works. What else could a girl want? :wah:

I can't believe I just bought a car. It freaks me out to sign all of those papers. Is it just me?

I'm not very easy to deal with either. The loan officer told me, "The bank sometimes asks for 1/3 down."

I replied, "The bank can get over it."

Apparently the bank got over it very fast since they didn't ask me for very much as a downpayment.

At least the guys all had a sense of humor...and they were properly outraged after they saw the damage to my "trade in" car. I felt validated and somewhat spoiled, which is really nice - especially when you're signing your life away.

Anyway, I love my car. It's a 2001, has low miles, and runs well. I demanded a tune-up as part of the deal, as well as any repairs my mechanic deems necessary. They didn't bat any eye, and just threw it into the contract. I also have a 2-year warranty on almost all the pieces parts. (That's high-tech car talk)...Of course, I don't actually have a mechanic anymore, but that's not the point. LOL

I'm excited and feel sick at the same time. Ack! Although this isn't the first time I've bought a car, it kinda feels like it.

This Saturday I get to play with it in the daylight and figure out how to work all the buttons and gadgets. LOL. Ahhh, the things that amuse me!

I just traded my paid off Civic for a CRV (SUV) :yh_nailbi . I've set off the car alarm four times. Eeeek. Try ALLLLLL the buttons and learn them well!

Congratulations!!

I'll definitely take your advice on learning all the buttons...hopefully before I set off the alarm.

This may be weird, but do you name your cars? If you do, what will you name your new SUV?

My civic was a boy. Sam. He wouldn't tell me his name for a long time. My SUV is a girl. Jesse. Got that one right away.

Jesse is a good name.

I've never had a boy car. That's pretty neat.

When I drive this car, I keep hearing Marlon Brando calling, "Stellllaaa!" I'm such an oddball.

How do you like the SUV? That's a big change from a Civic (great car, btw).

It's fun to drive, embarrassing when I set the alarm off, and convenient that I can pack all my tools in it. (Table saw, compound miter saw, compressor, hoses, cords and about five cases of tools!) Once a Honda owner, always a Honda owner.

Thanks for the compliment. I just say these smart aleck things without thinking about it. I'm gonna get in trouble one day!

It's probably a good idea to bring a guy with me in the future. I'll just pay him back with pizza and beer. LOL

HairyGarden, what kinds of problems are Pontiacs prone to?

Mystic Moon, I would've cried if I saw all the lines to my car cut. I know it's not much fun to get a family car, but the need passes...although that's sad, too. I'm the voice of cheer today, huh?

In my housewife years, I had a Taurus wagon that I liked a lot. The rear becomes two additional seats. It seats 7 comfortably. Never had any mechanical problems at all, and she drove very well. It's just that the Taurus wagon resembles a cat in heat.
