VoIP Equipment

I would be interested in hearing of the experiences of others who use the various types of VoIP equipment on the market today.

I use the toll-free internet calling service quite extensively and have Skype as the main provider.

To make and receive calls I use a Skype certified Cyberphone K model # V652skMLR rather than a headset/mic.

As the Cyberphone is powered by the USB soundcard in the computer and frees this up for other similtaneous audio applications which the headset/mic does not it suits me better to use this method.

I get a short (half second) delay when in conversation which I suspect is because I am connected to the internet via a dial-up modem rather than Broadband or Fios.

If anyone else is using internet calling - particularly Skype - I would be welcome their input and comments.

PE, I don't use any of this stuff and don't really even know what it is, what I do know is,

If you make lots of telephone calls whether long distance, overseas or just to next door you should start using internet telephoning.

It'll save you lots of dollars!

We use our cell phones, and are pretty happy with what we're paying. If that changes I will look into this option.

Everything is good with you? I don't want to derail your thread, so maybe you could bring us all up to date on how you've been and WHERE you've been in a new thread? I know there are several here who'd be interested. Are your birds thriving? Details, we want details!!!

hey good to see you around again. I know my father inquired into voip and selling it and he dropped it I can't recall why I will try and remember to ask what happened.

You can do the samething with a WEBCAM and anyone of the Instant Messenging programs. They all have the options of Audio and Video now you can do either or, or both. Great way to talk for FREE anywhere in the world anytime of the day. I have been using it for a while now.. All it cost me was the purchase of a WEBCAM WITH A MIC.. AND DOWNLOADING what ever messenger program the person I want to talk to has.. Of course you can only can do it from a PC or laptop totally free.. Sure you could do it from a cell phone as well..but it wouldn't be free..
