Been watching this from down in VIC, how ugly!

I really hope it's just a 'storm in a tea cup' and all settles down soon with some good community-intervention strategies.

Racial tensions will always be around to some degree, but with lots of pro-active programs aimed at breaking down barriers and integrating ppl, and educating some, maybe NSW can nip this in the bud and set the example for other states, if similar craziness occurs there.

I feel for the police officers doing extra shifts and the VIC ones about to be seconded over xmas/new years to help out along the NSW coast. Ah well, like I said hopefully it will all blow over and settle down during this the 'season of goodwill'.

i live far away from all this so i had no idea that such tensions were building until word broke out on the news. i even heard people over th PS2 online talking about some sort of riot on the weekend and it makes me sick that some people would resort to racial violence, hell its the same thing that arab terrorists do.
