Answering The Telephone

Post by Lon »

I only answer the phone when it's convenient for me to do so. If I am cooking something, watching something good on television or otherwise occupied my attitude is, let them leave a message. My wife on the other hand will damn near break a arm and leg to get to the phone before it rings twice. She goes nuts over my not answering. How about you?

#1 I only have a home phone for two reasons,For this stupid puter of mine and if calls 911 from here.Other than that my wife and I both have cell phones so we only get the calls that are for ourselves. That way we don't have too bother with each others calls, handy thing right there.

#2 A while back I bought a tele zapper for my phone,My calls went from twenty five a week too about five, well worth the forty bucks.

#3I have dish tv and it comes with a caller ID feature, when some one calls I see on my tv screen and chose too answer or not.Thats right,I saw ya,screw ya,I did'nt wanna get up.

#4 If and when I do answer the phone and it is a telemarketer,I always ask if they have let god into there life today and they seem too shut up and let me go.

If it's between 6 am and 7:30 am for a sub job and I want to work - I answer. We do have caller ID and I hate those phone people. If I don't have my glasses on and answer the phone and it's a telemarketer.........I just hang up.

I don't have to answer the phone.

Husband cannot stand a ringing phone, he will get the phone.

Now that young daughter is back home, we don't need to concern ourselves. When it rings, it is usually not for us and if it is, she brings us the phone and then retrieves it from us when we are finished with the call.

She also takes messages for us.

Yes Lon I can let the phone ring & have the answering machine pick up when I'm busy, or just even lazy. My wife on the otherhand, also has to run to get that ringing phone. We had caller ID installed on our line, so she now knows before hand who is calling. But even when the call comes in as "Blocked-call", or "Unknown caller" she still answers that call, and then has to deal with unwanted callers. Doesn't seem like we really need the caller ID. :wah:

Wow I thought I was the only one that never answers the phone, but it seems I am not alone. We used to always get phone calls on a daily basis by telemarketers, and having to continually stop what I was doing to answer them, has now put me off answering entirely.

Well unless I know it's someone important, otherwise they can put up with my dad. And believe me, you wouldn't want to be a telemarketer when my dad answers your call. You have all been warned!! :D

Have caller ID both at home and work.

After answering the phone all day at work, I sure don't want to be bothered at home. Nope, don't answer the phone at home.

I have caller ID and an answering machine and I found out I can push the end button on my phone and I won't hear it ring anymore. I'm usually not in the mood to talk on the phone, I have a cousin who is always talking about the same thing over and over and over, after awhile that gets annoying, then there's the fil, always griping(?) and talking about the same thing to "remind" us of something. I answer the phone after the 5th call from them. Unknown name can talk to my machine. I will however answer the phone when it's my family or friend that calls me long distance.

I have my answering machine set to pick up after 4 rings. That way, after I have looked at my caller id, I decide if I want to take it or not. It drives me insane if I am some where else and their phone just rings and rings. Makes me want to answer it myself.

I also answer the phone when the hubby calls from work.....forgot that one, he just called twice and asked why I didn't answer the first time! LOL...I was on here typing! LOL!!!!! Anyway, I just got off the phone with my cousin, she's in sad shape right now....I'm scared for her. She was born having a seizure, isn't that a scarey thought for us mothers? She takes medication to control them and two days ago she had an MRI done on her brain and they found a white spot and a crack in her cranium....my question is this, is there fluid leaking into her brain from that crack? The Dr.'s office is D*****g her around and not calling her back to set up an appointment to let her know what is going on. She can't drive either, so she has to make the appointments when her husband isn't working and they know this, watch those bastids schedule it on a day he works and say well since you can't make the appointment we have to wait till Tuesday to discuss what's going on. She needs to know NOW!!!! I'm fuming right now! :-5

From an earlier thread:

I years ago used to just have "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"! (Thank

you, Joan Jett!!)

Then it was: "Olsiewski's Meat Market, you stab 'em we slab 'em, at

the sound of the tone leave your name, number, and the size of your

beef and we'll get back to ya"... would you believe there were people

who called me who didn't get it was a joke and thought they called

the wrong number?!?!?!?!?
