So tonight I went to Winn Dixie. I'm in the parking lot with my groceries rummaging through my handbag for my car keys. I searched my pocketbook nearly seven times, pulling stuff out, receipts flying everywhere, looking for my car keys. The inside of my lining in the change compartment was ripped, so I ripped it even more to see if my car keys went down into my bag behind the liner -- no such luck.
I was praying to God -- no, don't leave me out here like this. Help me, Lord, find my car keys. Home isn't close enough to walk. My brother has my spare car key, and I don't have his phone number. I'm thinking I'm going to have to call the sheriff to help me break into my car and get a locksmith out here. It's Christmastime so car thefts are at a height, and I'm thinking this is going to be such a mess. I was cold, tired after work and hungry. It was after 7:00 at night, and I was panicked.
Back into the supermarket I went. I walked over to Customer Service and had to wait in line behind someone else.
Then, of course, the cashier had to turn her back on me to talk to a guy behind the counter before helping me.
Finally, I asked, "Did somebody turn in keys?"
She said, "Yes, they just turned them in about five minutes ago." (Perfect timing, during the time that I was struggling to find them in the parking lot.) She pulls out this box from behind the counter, and I'm waiting and thinking, watch, they won't be my keys.
Lo and behold, she had my car keys! I couldn't stop saying, "God bless you."
And God bless the person that turned in my car keys. I would have been up the creek without a paddle.

Phew I'm glad for ya Val, would of been a lot of trouble for ya otherwise, so thank god that there are still decent people out there, that are kind enough to do the right thing, by turning in those keys, and not taking your car.

I went to the mail box 2 days ago - we have the key kind. There were bills and letters from the IRS, and other such depressing news. An hour later I was looking for my keys..and looking..and looking. I backtracked my steps from the mailbox and I finally found them in the trash can - I guess I didn't want to go to the mailbox again - ever! :-5

I'm glad you've all shared such wonderful replies. I've been busy and haven't been around the Garden much lately. It looks like the Spirit of Christmas is upon us all!!!
